Way to backup dvds

I've got some that are getting scratched ... How can I back them up ? I have a dvd burner but I never used it for anything else then burning content and files...

free:I didnt have much succes with dvd decrypter , always spilling shit about bad cyclic sectors

I've seen dvd shrink in an old thread ... only one I found ... is it any good ?

I'm trying it right now but it says there is like ... an hour left

P.S. I understand some discs are bigger then 4.7 gb . I've got a dual layer dvd burner ... never used that feature...

But im seeing tons of mpeg4 movie files (new dvd releases) online, created by Nero Recode. So this is either untrue or theres a way around it. I personally haven't tried burning a dvd yet. Nero is pretty strict with protected software titles though...
