    Hey guys quick question about court..

    hey guys quick question..

    Lets say someone beat u up so u called 911 and went to the hospital...

    Later on cops put a warrant out for the person that beat u up and they eventually post bail and now u guys have a court date..

    What happens if i dont show up to court? (me being the plantiff)?? how do i just drop the charges/case altogether??

    will a warrant be PUT out for MY own arrest if i dont show up?

          Common sense tells me if you don't show up the charges will be dropped against that person. Contact an attorney for legal advice.

                  They will likely drop the charges on him, and could put out a FTA warrant for you. Depends on the jurisdiction and it's local laws and ordincances. Call the DA or Prosecutor and just tell them you don't want to appear. In some states they CAN go to trial with no witness/victim depending on what kind of evidence they have against the defendant.

                          why the hell wouldnt you go??? if the guy handed you your ass then ya gotta go so you can testify... dont let that shit slide... you didnt start it did ya, i mean if you think they might find you guilty of something then i can see your position... but if are trying to avoid it due to being afraid of the guy, well, thats on you then.

                                      They will have already gotten your statement I assume; they had to for the charges to be filed. I doubt you even got a subpeona. The hearing will be the intitial one where he enters a plea, your presence is irrellevant. LOL no they wont issue a warrant for you on FTA.

                                          If you wish to drop the charges, call the prosecutor. You can tell them to drop them assuming the state hasnt picked them up, which depends on the severity of the ass kicking he handed you.


                                          The initial hearing is just the arraignment, and the plea. No one testifies.
