I would say a fair amount of people don't believe it's true.
I am still undecided

Not that I disagree with global warming as I think its true. However we are also in the middle of a polarity reversal of the Earth's magnetic field according to many scientists. link

Being this is something that hasn't happened during recorded history, it's very possible that this could also affect the global climate changes and cause global warming.

The thing with warming and cooling trends they come in cycles. Florida 10,000 years ago was under water due to the oceans being much higher than now. So Global Warming happens all the time.

I heard a weather expert talk about this weather.
It happens every 40 years and lasts 15 years.

he said global warming makes it a little worse, but its not the cause of all this crazy weather.

Exactly which is why I'd almost think the Earth's magnetic polls switching are related to it more than it being a man made only issue.

Of course there is evidence that there is global warming, but nothing can really point the blame 100% on just us. We are probably part of the cause, but I'm betting that it is just part of the Earth's natual cycle. Just like Ice Ages.

Complete bullshit. Read up on the CO2 cycle and you will find that the climate of the Earth can change periodically. There are so many factors that contribute to the Earth's climate, for example the sunspot cycle of our sun. The Earth is such a large system and for it to be changed to a point where we would notice, we'd have to detonate quite a few nuclear warheads or do something that drastic to get a change going.

Ozone layer going? Any fucking person with the knowledge of basic chemistry knows that in any chemical equation, if you take away shit from one side, an imbalance will form and thus a reaction will adjust itself to go back to that equilibrium point. It's an elementary rule called Le Chatelier's principle. Ozone is formed by taking 3 oxygen molecules 02 to form 2 ozone molecules 03. If our ozone is depleting, then Le Chatelier's principle kicks in and says that more oxygen will now come together to make ozone. Simple as fucking that.

All these environmentalists want to do is to put people in worry, and get our lovely tax dollars and waste them on bullshit like "global warming" research, when this money can be used for better shit like research in other departments. I do believe that we all should consider burning cleaner fuels and think about our environment, and we should all be somewhat educated in some of the basic sciences that help us understand what's going on.

The Earth has been around for millions of years, and for people to assume that a climate change over about 100 years is due to us pumping out C02 into the atmosphere and causing global warming, well that fucking interval is just way too small. Get some real scientists on this and you'll find that there's nothing serious to worry about.

Just my viewpoint, you can shoot it down.

This shit is pretty interesting about the poles reversing on Earth. As I remember this happens every 103k years and in about 2k years we're up for a pole reversal. When this happens, the mag field will be nonexistent on Earth, and cosmic rays will now be able to penetrate our atmosphere and start changing shit on this planet on the molecular level (cosmic rays are high energy particles such as electrons and protons and other cool shit coming from the sun, and usually get trapped within the mag field of the earth, the cause of the northern lights too). This phenomenon is evidence that points to evolution (plants on earth found in fossils have been known to show drastic changes every 100k years).

I'm not an expert on the subject......but....what are you saying? we should keep on polluting air-water-ground and not worry about anything?????????????

Yep.. not doubts on global warming. Covers everything from species endangerment to screwing up reefs, abnormal seasons to shrinking of the "poles".

Dunno if the current weather is related - that can be argued till the human race expires.

When enormous amounts of contamination get thrown into the atmosphere at current levels, it can't help but fuck up the environment and extends further than global warming.

Example.. Florida "used" to be, not that long ago, a State with extensive wildlife and coastal life. Despite guys walking around supposedly protecting the Evergades etc, - it's a totally fucked up State now in eco terms.

Who did this shit? People. Take a sampling of water from the Mississippi and you will find significant doses of Prozac, birth control pills and chemicals used in Viagra products. The fish are dumb on Prozac, sterile with birth control shit and raving horny on Viagra. Add all the other crap, from mercury to other industrial plant emissions - makes you wonder anything is still alive.

I gave up eating any shit that came out of the Gulf years ago

Here's a quick global warming related intelligence test - if ALL the ocean's icebergs were to melt tomorrow, by how much do you think global sea levels would rise?

Here's a clue - it might not be by as much as most people think

the recent weather has SHIT to do with global warming..

back in 1920, they had just as many severe, and frequent hurricanes.

What's wrong with saying ints a combination of things? Nothing has to be or normally is 100% one cause or the other, but rather a combination of factors.

I'm not saying that we should keep polluting. I'm saying that from the very little research done, we cannot deduce that global warming is the cause of the fucked up weather, nor can we deduce that we are responsible for such an event. I try to do my part to keep the environment clean.

Yeesh. This is why 'news' today has become such a pathetic fucking sham. All you need is some random contrary asshole to come along and disagree with some statement and suddenly that opinion is given as much weight or more than the original.

Yes, the earth is warming. It's a fact that this year is the warmest year in recorded history. Go ahead and hitch your wagon to the 'nothing's wrong la la la la' crew if you like. You'll still be naught more than a mildly fetid snack when the end comes down and your neighbors decide to "eat the stupid ones first".

Sea levels are minally important to the equation. Sure, it'll suck if you have beachfront, but... well, cope. The REAL problems with melting pack ice is:

More light fresh water flooding the system can have disasterous effects on the oceanic heat conveyer, which keeps the planet more or less uniformly warm... shut that down, and the poles freeze while the the equator fries. We're talking drastically altered temperatures here... new ice age with insanely hot tropics weather. "Easy" habitability will be squeezed into relatively narrow bands in the north and south between the advancing glaciers and the new deserts.

Pack ice and underwater ice are carbon sinks that contain *A LOT* of methane (methyl hydrates) which will be released into the atmosphere as the melt continues. You think the greenhouse effect is bad now? Wait'll all that gets up in the air.

The rapid temperature alterations are going to wreak havoc with established ecosystems. Yes, the earth will balance and flora + fauna will move around and re-establish itself... eventually. We're talking scales of eons though, not years.

In the end, I'm sure the *earth* will survive just fine. We humans, however, and potentially the entire current planetary ecology may well end up as a short lived footnote before the planet drops everything flat out and goes back to breeding prokaryotes around oceanic thermal vents.

Technology can do a lot to help out here. If someone came up with a solid, energy efficient, cheap, easily available way to sequester carbon from the atmosphere, it'd go a long way to solving the problem... or at least our contributions to the problem. I bet people would hug those carbon sequestering devices if they had one.

If I could still remember that highschool geology lesson I had back then in Highschool, global warming is caused by that CO2 emission(actually not just carbon dioxide) on our air. CO2 qand ojther harmfull gases do not allow sun's heat to escape from the earth's atmosphere after hitting it.

On some countries such as Japan; some of their buildings there have garden's purposely put up at the roof to increaser the presence of oxygen on the area. I've seen it on TV and it is such a very unique idea.
