Then there's Margarita Island... http://www.mapquest.com/atlas/?region=margarta

I met a couple in Acapulco that had been there several times and absolutely raved about the party life of Margarita Island, said they were dying to go back. Fun crazy couple from the Maples in Winnipeg, I'm sure they've been back there several times since then.

It's also a tax-free port and handy for "no taxes" tourist stuff.

I loved St Martaan as well. Flew in, stayed on a friends boat then cruised it over to St Barts. This is the island that left me breathless. I literally had to remind myself that it was all real and not a dream. Would have make such a romatic getaway *sign*.
It is very expensive and very worth it.

If you go, spend at least one afternoon at Nikki Beach. Order a pitcher of mojitos and have the pretty girls give you a beach side massage at your cabanna.

Wherever it is you choose, Enjoy.

dominican might be nice.

although some can afford the BEST 5 star resorts to make it affordable for all i need a place everyone can afford and those with more money can get better ultra suites and such but others can get rooms for $100-$200 ish

St. Bart's if you like quiet...
otherwise, St. Maartens/St. Martin - casinos/nightlife on the Dutch side, incredible restaurants on the French side, fantastic beaches.
Only been to Martinique briefly, parts were intriguing but it's my understanding is that it used to be a lot nicer...

I lived there for a while - liked it a lot!! :thumbsup

St Maartin was one of the most friendly places I've ever been - the people are actually genuinely helpful. Plus there are direct air flights to the US, Canada and the EU - handy!

Yes, it can be expensive visiting. We were on the verge of buying a home there - unfortunately the owner died in the middle of the deal and that was abandoned, - but would hate to think of the rental value now! *lol* They were asking figures like $5K-$20K/week for properties then - though these prices were just absurd and hoping for tourism biz.

The leeward islands each have totally different geography and no problem on time flying from island to island, - made it an interesting region and plenty to do!

The only downside is hurricanes! It was a novelty at first, but ended up getting monotonous stripping down computers and storing them in hopefully dry places.
