It might be the same thing, but i dunno.

I would be neat if the plugged random URLS tho... that is until it was my turn... www.trannyhose.com and INSTANSTLY people stop drinking coffee

I was choked when I heard this too, but it remains to be seen how they implement it.

Starbucks has had other commentary on their cups, usually something or someone philosophical (Lao Tzu, Nietzche, Socrates, Goethe, etc). In that philosophical context I have no problems whatsoever with quotes from religious texts, judeochristian bible or otherwise.

If they give those up to take a purely christo-centric position, then I'll sadly have to tell the manager of our local buckies, who is a family friend, that we'll no longer be getting our caffiene fix there. I won't be party to the religios onslaught against modern western civilization if I can help it... I'd rather my money going to people trying to move forward, not clawing the world back to the 19th century.

Alot of companies post little jokes and quirky comments on their packaging.

I remember my first Fruitopia... it said on the bottle "And it even comes with this handy carrying case"

I thought that was the funniest shit ever. I will get a laugh or two from the new cups I am sure.

DH and I were in Leons buying furniture and noticed a Religious Cross hanging on the wall behind the checkout counter. The clerk said ALL Leons stores have the exact same cross hanging in it.

I personally was floored that any company would tie themselves in any way to religion.

Wow, I can't believe you guys. You think that the world is made up of evil pornographers or something?

Contrary to popular belief, most people believe in God, and in the country, Christianity rules.

We went to I-Hop a few days ago for breakfast and noticed on their front Neon Sign a religious verb from the bible. I just looked at my hubby and said "Wow, this is getting worse and worse in this country". Than we ate breakfast. After we ate and went to the register I said to the Manager who cashed us up "Interesting sign you got out front", next time try a verse from the Koran.. As you can tell I said it afterwards, I really didn't want anybody spit in my food..

It's creepy out there.. Welcome to USA 2005.. God will be with you, God will help you remove all those bad people.. Like

Any other religion
Women who abort
People who have sex befor marriage
People who masturbate.

And much more.. You know all that stuff all those religious rights guys do anyway..

I think everyone here is way off.

Starbucks has a "That's how I see it" campaign.

They are quotes from famous and influential people.

Rick Warren, Author of the Purpose Driven Life and Joel Osteen, Preacher, are the ones to have quotes on upcoming cups. They are religious but I don't think you'll see them quoting specific bible verses.

I don't see what the big deal is.

It's not like they are some government entity backing religion. They are a company, they can say whatever they want.

Chick-Filet's aren't open on Sundays so people can worship. Pisses me off, because I like chicken sammiches, but hey, whatever

Getting slightly taken out of context from what I heard on Bill Maher. Apparently a company had banned starbucks cups from his worksite due to the fact that it had some quotes from a gay author/poet on it.

As for the talk about companies associating themselves with religion, so be it. They are after all private companies and can do what they want really and that is a good thing.

From as previously mentioned In and Out burger has done it for decades. Then flip through the phone book and play spot the fish symbol. The use of christianity and christian symbols has been and always will be very huge in this country. I also can honestly say I know a few business owners that use such symbols in their ads not because they are that religious but because it brings in a huge customer base.

When I first started HellSafePorn.com, I got some flack for using a Cross and bible quote in the header .... but eventually, people saw the humor

Now that I've sold that site, not sure what direction the new owner is going to take it in ... but he HAS kept the header as it was.

Seriously who gives a shit?
Majority of people drinking at starbucks are teens to early 20 -yearolds. They do it so they can seem cool, not caring about what is written on the cup of thier mocha chocha super latte with caramel.
