Get paid to link to NATSSponsors.com?

We're just tossing this idea around and would like some feedback on it....

We'd like to promote NATSSponsors.com more. Would anyone be interested in an old fashioned per click program at a low rate (perhaps .01 or .02 per click)? You would be able to link to it from anywhere webmaster related, sigs, boards, webmaster pages on your tgps, etc., etc. I know it's a low rate but for a quick little targetted link that won't interfere with surfers and could be a simple text link in your sigs it might not be such a bad idea.

We'd like some feedback on it

I doubt per click would yield very much income for the webmaster, maybe percentage or a flat rate per referral.

Seems it would be a bit hard to monitor the effectiveness with this method, without at least setting up some special thing between him and all the listed sponsors... which would be difficult since the site is geared to most all sponsors using NATS.

At least that's the way I see it.

.05 is better than two. would be interesting to run some tests and see how it pans out nonetheless.

something like $1 per 1000 impressions would probably attract more attention

I agree, but considering it would take 1000 clicks to only get $50, that seems way too small to me. Maybe making a percentage deal isn't too bad but your right, it would need agreements with each company.

I rather have 2 cents a click then $1 per 1000 impressions

Either way, 2 cents is too low for webmaster traffic.

Yeah right a dollar per click, I'm sure you wouldn't get webmasters trying to fraud

I think per-click is the wrong move unless you're hand selecting webmasters and referrers.

Or at least additional scripting to track whether our referrals were signing up or just browsing.

The point is extra income. It's a little text link you could throw in places that have nothing now to generate some extra money for you with no work.

As far as $1 per click? Sure, why don't we make it $5 per click? $1 per click would have us spending all of our time looking for fraud not just some of it and it would not be cost effective at all.

I'd rather link directly to the sponsor programs in that case and make a percentage or flat rate. Its conveniant to have all NATS sponsors on a single page, but I'd rather link directly to these sponsor programs since webmaster traffic is definitely worth more than 5c/click.

Assuming they sign up of course, but at the same time, a webmaster will often signup to more than one program as opposed to a surfer signing up to just one site, and later another one probably from a different source etc.

Great idea though, let me know when you folks get it together and depending on the outcome, you definately have my attention.

That is what we would love to do however there are a # of issues...

1) not everyone is signed up with every program
2) if they were their usernames would need to match (which would be rare and a pain)
3) we could use loginid or somthing but that would obviously be different for each one

The only thing I could think of is setup an admin for it so that if you want to send traffic to it you can create an account, login, and put in your details for each program for referral info. This would just be a bit of work to get setup but you'd get full credit for the programs you're signed up to if people follow the links.

Any thoughts?

John,

How about offering nats programs an option to link to NatsSponsors.com. Then turning this site into a top 50 and listing the programs that sent the most webmaster traffic at the top. I know some programs already have banners to other webmaster programs. Just an idea

The thought of a PPC also floated by. We just wanted to get it at least online for now and refine. I think the PPC (bidding for position) might work better than a toplist as we could pay a % of the PPC income to people sending traffic and get from more than the sponsors themselves.

Just a thought here about having all nats sponsors on one page. This thought just comes to mind from having a program. But, wouldn't having a page with every sponsor on it be a bad thing if a nats exploit was found. Like with the small stats exploit, if one was found then everyone would know where to go to have some fun. Which is what people did before.

Not trying to flame, but just a thought that comes to mind with having a program. I do like a lot of things about NATS, and they are a great team.

I understand and it was a thought we had also. Anyone who is uncomfortable being listed can of course be removed. We felt in the end the benefits out weighed the chance of something major happening like that. There are also lists other places of NATS sponsors and I've heard from a few people that they plan to make their own lists and try to list everyone. We thought it would be a good idea to have an "official" list. I do agree with you tho that it does open that chance up a bit more than without the list.

This is where you have the double standard if you will. I agree with a lot of what you are saying, and of course the if someone is going to publish a "Nats Sponsor List" mine as well be NATS itself to publish it. For me this would raise quite the debate. Do we go ahead and do this since it is our product, or do we let others do it instead. For myself I would be leary at doing it myself in case of an exploit being found and having the actual list published by me the company owner. If someone else does it's easy to say ok no big deal, we fixed the exploit, but if the people around who wanted to be asshole found them all from you, this could also raise issues or drama, which is always a headache.

It's good though that you are not just putting everyone out there and giving them the option of being listed or not. It is nice being able to see everyone in one place, and awesome for webmasters. It would just be a headache for you if something did happen again. I am looking at it from your shoes, and no others. No harm meant once again, just a nice debate.
