Just like the NSA with zillions of intel coming in everyday, there's too much data and not enough people to process it all effectively. The computer systems don't talk to each other and are outdated. There are over 8 million SS numbers being used by illegals that aren't really their SS numbers that further convoludes and then mismatches the data inputs. The 1099's are in the billions now. One out of 3 Americans moves every couple years, so then you have address mismatches. Women get married and then they don't notify the agency the last name has changed. Woment get divorced happens again. Get remarried and now their are 3 last names. A couple years ago they were so overwhelmed processing offices started to just toss out data forms they couldn't get to so they wouldn't get in trouble for being so behind. Box loads of records. The tax code is so complex the customer service reps don't even understand it and give taxpayers the incorrect info a lot of the time. Then you've got the cash economy. The digital economy. The corporate weasles with corporations sending money all over the planet and back and forth. Bottom line the entire system is a mess and needs to be dramatically simplified . The simple flat tax on purchases would make it so much better. But that would put the accountants and tax lawyers out of biz and prevent the corporate guys from doing all their tricks so they lobby to keep it deliberately complex so nobody can figure anything out.
