oh yeah 50

can you imagine?
I would buy a $3.5 million IP Headend that I know of being surplused off for less than $300k in the next 30 days. Then I would start delivering IP Television to all the fiber-to-the-home communities (360+ in the US), competing against incumbants like Comcast, kicking their ass by delivering better TV services converged with telephone and 10Mbps Internet all for less money, forcing some incumbant to buy my compaby for a S-I-C-K amount within 24 months reaping many, many multiples on the cash investment.
Can you dig? Got $350k you want to invest>? |

stick to what you know best. I got my eye on a pizza place right now. I'd drop a few hundred thousand on that for sure. Make it back in 2 years, but then again, I know what I'm doing with it.

I'd chat with me about real estate in Panama. (This is the 2nd time I'm posting this today)
They're about to put $15 Trillion into widening the canal. That's 15 years of foreigners moving here on their company's tab to live while they work on the canal. Ya, this is a safe investment. |
I would invest in myself. Sad to say that my skills and what I can do is being held back by the size of my walet right now. :(

There are a lot of factors to consider that you don't mention, concerning your current financial and life situation. Whether you have kids or not could make a big difference, for example.
I'd talk to a financial planner, and consider your current assets, liabilities, income, expected future earnings, and what you prioritize for the future, before deciding how to invest. Even a single consultation could provide valuable guidance. If your other investments are risky, or you don't have much else, you'll probably be advised to do something conservative. If you already have a lot of equity in a nice house, that's already a conservative investment, so something riskier may be advisable. If you're just going to rely on GFY advice, and assuming you earn a middle class income, my two cents is to spread things out: pay off any CC debt, set aside a portion for retirement contributions for a couple years, look at buying a home if you don't already have one, put a good chunk in index or other mutual funds, a smaller chunk in medium-risk investments (e.g. leveraged real estate or stock investments), and allocate a small portion for high-risk investments or enterpreneurial ventures. Restaurants are notoriously risky investments for people who don't know the industry. |
