SMS.ac scammers: anyone get fucked by these guys?

Anyone fall into this scam? A good friend of mine got duped into signing up for this service, and on his advice, I signed up before looking into them. What a fucking mistake. Anyone here have any experiance with them, or suddenly start seeing charges on your cell phone bill?

Are you sure your friend told you about them? Part of the scam involved a fake Hotmail login "phishing" form on their site so you could check the email confirmation they sent you when siging up - if you tried signing in to Hotmail using this form they would copy your Hotmail username and password before redirecting you to your Hotmail inbox, log in themselves, copy your contact list, then send everyone on your contact list a fake recommendation email.

I asked my friend about it when I got the email from him in my hotmail, my first thought was that it was just a run-o-the-mill scams that are floating around, but he actually said that he signed up, so I figured it was legit. I am sure he is going to find charges on his cell bill as well. I cancelled, so hopefully will not get dinged too bad by this, but boy do I feel like a horses ass!

Wait, is the sms.ac site itself a scam, or is there a phishing scam going around? I signed up for the site after getting a few emails from a couple friends, and I had $15 in extra text messages charged on my phone. I just figured I really did go over, but now I am going to go over the bill and see.

I havent read everything here, but I was signed up to sms.ac awhile back. I have never had any problems with them. Im on Pre-Paid and have never noticed any missing credit.
I was only sending 6-7 txts a day as that was the limit for me....

sms.ac itself is a scam

http://www.unleadedonline.net/uo-243-1.html

Put simply, this fraudulent 'internet media company' will deduct $3.00 from your mobile phone account for every 3 messages you receive through them. They will then send you an sms every day containing advertising so that you are automatically billed for $3.00 every 3 days*! The charges will come under "SMS Content" (Technically not an advertisement, but a 'Premium SMS').

The founder of SMS.ac is the same founder of the original CollegeClub.com which was the largest college student community and to my knowlege, no targeted college student site has matched the reach that site had in 1999-2000.
