you would have to be pretty narrow minded to think only the u.s.a. will be affected by its environment policies

compared to other countries the US has it pretty easy when it comes to natural disasters. this year has been a shitty but nothing compared to the tsunami, earthquakes in iran, india, etc.

Nobody can seriously argue against the FACT that we in the USA owe it to the rest of the world to cut back on the damage we cause the environment. Sure, we can point fingers at others who need to do that same, but why don't we just start with ourselves before doing so?

That was a softball -- but I'll pass.

Kyoto won't solve much. Better to spend the money on Research and Development with regards to such things as Hydrogen cars, Nuclear Fusion power, etc.

conservation is just unamerican. how many suv's do you own donovan? how many sq feet do you heat/cool each day? i find the people who complain the most are usually the worst and dont even realize it. buy a honda for long trips, buy a bike for everything else and live in 400sqft shack with solar panels or stfu

It's a global problem, and yes, we contribute. But so do a lot of countries. Industrialization of the world is needed, but there are drawbacks. Got to take the good with the bad. I do think there are some things we could do to make it better, but you need not act like we are the sole contributors of pollution.

it will never happen tho. no administration wants to be the one to damage the the ever weakening economy by raising enviromental standards that would cost companies millions if not billions. each one will talk pretty about it and wait to pass the problem on to the next administration. but i totally agree with you even if we are all hypocrites by being consumers of all that contributes to it.

even more revealing, how much pollution does ups produce each day so you could save $0.25 on that dvd from amazon.com instead of buying 1 of the 5000 shipped in bulk to blockbuster or target? how about buying a bunch of useless shit that stores have to repeatedly stock so you can say you own it? "my water is shipped to California direct from a spring in Florida in the back of a diesel! i rule"

if the whole world was industrialized, we'd all be fucked...moreso. just imagine all of india driving SUV's. lol. tho i do think these unindustrialized or third world countries that are being taken advantage of by US and EU corps need to be regulated big time. no one seems to enfore enviromental regs, if they even have any in many, many countries.
