Need Some Good Late Night Healthy Eating Options

So I am the last guy that wants to cook late at night (being that I can barely cook as is! LOL). Anyways my small town doesn't have very many options for late night cusine. Basically Mcdonalds, Tim Hortons and 7-11...

What would you guys suggest for some late night healthy eating options? I'm playing hockey twice a week and getting back to the gym at least 3x a week and trying to lose 20 more pounds.

I need some help from the gurus here

    Thanks,
    DH

    eat a mustard whopper.

it's a whopper, hold the mayo, ketchup and cheese, add mustard.

cuts the calories about in half

Yep been getting the chicken breast sandwich with a blue berry bran muffin. But I think that is too many carbs for late night.

Some wheat thins with low fat ranch dip is good. I know it sounds weird, but it's good. And of course if you want to eat some REAL food, anything baked is going to better for ya than McD's of course lol. Baked chicken and salad or something.

You can eat a lot and be healthy....

If you can boil water...purchase those 3 for a buck : Soups in a cup - It really fills you up - hardcore college food.
                    ...

try cottege cheese (1 cup) + 1 bowl of soup above (if you can't get it, try 2 x ramen noodles) + 1 glass soda (sprite or clear - or try carbonated water like perrier or appolinaris)

                    ......

                    or try

sliced turkey sandwiches - fresh cut/thick with thick bread - mustard/mayo, then 1 bowl of soup + 1 can of corn - very good

                    .....

                    If you need breakfast:

1 cup of oatmeal + 1/2 cup of honey granola to this add 1/4 cup of evaporated milk (those tin milk you always ignore) add hot water - a very good hot breakfast and very healthy - IT WILL KEEP YOU REGULAR

                      Raisins are great
Frozen fruit like grapes or strawberries
Fresh fruit is a great one too, I love going to the 24hr supermarket here and picking up fresh fruit on the way home. Besides, you need quite a few servings per day and at late night it works well.

No such thing as healthy late night eating.

Your body commits too much blood to your digestive region to get a good night's sleep and it takes away from other vital functions like your immune system. Best thing is to not eat anything 4 hours before you go to bed. If you have the serious munchies then go for something light and easy to digest like non-fiber and non-meat stuff.

If you're working out then DEFINETLY DON'T EAT ANYTHING!

There is nothing wrong with a late night snack as long as it is in moderation. A common rule for most people though is no carbs after 7pm. The best would be a small combo of healthy fats and/or slow digesting protein to last you through the night.

The best example would be a bit of all natural peanut butter and some cottage cheese.

Hmm see the thing is that I usually fall asleep about 4am every night as I like to work late and talk to all my euro friends

So I guess that means I should not eat anything past 12:00am?

                                        2- Eating before bed

                                        Why is it bad?
If you're seeking sweet dreams, avoid eating before bedtime. While no conclusive studies prove that eating before bed leads to weight gain, eating too much food, or eating spicy foods, fatty foods and caffeine one to three hours before bedtime can reduce the quality and length of your sleep, making you fatigued, sluggish and generally not fun to be around the next day. Eating fatty foods before bed will slow down the emptying of the stomach, exacerbating indigestion, while spicy foods can lead to heartburn and indigestion.

                                        ------------------------------------

                                        From DiscoveryHealth.com

                                        6. Finish eating at least 2-3 hours before your regular bedtime. Eating or drinking too much may make you less comfortable when settling down for bed. It is best to avoid a heavy meal too close to bedtime. Also, spicy foods may cause heartburn, which leads to difficulty falling asleep and discomfort during the night. Try to restrict fluids close to bedtime to prevent nighttime awakenings to go to the bathroom, though some people find milk or herbal, non-caffeinated teas to be soothing and a helpful part of a bedtime routine

                                        -------------------------------------

I personally know bodybuilders (who are good friends & relatives) who will wake up in the middle of the night just to consume protein.
