For the Jewish people today is Yom Kipur.
This is the day where all of israel is shut down, everything is closed, you can't drive a car (in some places people will throw stones at your car if you do) and basicly you can't do nothing, all israeli tv stations are closed, basicly the whole country is shut down.
I was living in canada for a year till half a year ago and in "Yom Kipur" i was there, and for the first time i've noticed that this is something unique only to israel, it's kind of a special day...people go by foot on the roads and it's kinda fun although sounds very stupid
anyway this is a link to 3cams installed on Ayalon Highways in Tel Aviv, every day of the year this road is just full of cars and jammed in the busy hours:
