Audioslave - Live in Cuba [DVD]
This DVD came out on Tuesday, and I bought it yesterday. I just finished watching it minutes ago. Not bad. It was filmed all on one night, which is nice because I hate concert films that filmed over a period of two or three nights. You often see that on DVDs.
The video was of good quality except for one particular camera that was focusing on the drummer Brad Wilk. It looked a little blurry, but was a minor problem I guess. My main gripe with this DVD is that the Audio is in 2.0. What the hell's up with that? I couldn't believe my ears and eyes when I saw that it wasn't in 5.1 or DTS. I'm sure there's an explanation for this somewhere on the internet. But for now, I'm pretty puzzled by this decision. I guess the best part of this concert DVD is the fact it was filmed in Cuba. Audioslave is the first rock band to have ever played a live concert there. There's a little documentary on the DVD documenting this. |

Just picked that up today. Being a fan of Audioslave and the fact that I travel to Cuba a few times a year, it was hard to pass up. Very cool that they could pull that off.
Those people LOVE music down there. To date the best musicians I have ever seen have been nobodies in Havana just jamming. If you have never been, go sometime to Havana and spend some time getting lost in the city and meeting the locals... it's an amazing place. VERY friendly (and horny) people. :-) Funny story... one of the guys who travels with me and shoots is a muscle guy. Great shape and all that. We were explaining to these people in a bar where we were from and they didn't know so we mentioned our baseball team (they all know baseball) and they misunderstood us and thought WE PLAYED FOR THE TEAM. We did not correct them. :-) It is an understatement when I tell you that we owned Havana for 1 night. Maybe the greatest night of my life. |
