How Much Lower Does The US Dollar Have To Sink Before You Start Charging Euros?

I'm starting to see alot of sites now charging in euros and not in dollars. What is holding you back from charging in Euros? Credit Card Company? Worried you will lose members for price increase? Explain

I doubt the ricans likes getting billed in euros ...

I'm pretty sure if it was 2 $ cheaper in euros then USD, they would still pay in USDs... patriotism ;)

Do you think it would be more profitable if you geo-redirected US surfers looking to join your paysite to a join page that is billed in US dollars and European surfers looking to join to a join page in Euros... Has anyone tried doing this, seems like it would be easy enough.

Actually the USD/EUR exchange rate isn't too bad (~1.21) it was much worse 9 months ago (~1.36). But I think it was as low as 0.82 in 2001, that would be nice again.

we have been billing in GBP and Euros for around 6 months now through our primary processor verotel. We were real hesistant at first as surfers seemed so used to being billed in USD for porn. But we aint looked back since, in fact overall sales are up. Looks better reading £17.95 that $29.95 etc. Dealing with bullshit dollar exchange rates are thing of the past for most of our income. This is one of the best features verotel ever introduced - differnt currencies that are paid out in the same. This is one thing I dont get about Paycom. We have them in our cascade, they do accept payments in eus and GBP etc but they insist on paying us out in USD, which means they remain in second/3rd cascade for most of the time. If they changed that policy im sure more EU webmasters would push them higher up... time for coffee

If not in the USA why push the price onto the surfer ? when they are billing options that allow us to charge in local currencies without all the exchange rates. We pushed our monthly prices on some sites to 32.50 usd and couldnt go much higher than that when we billed usd as primary.

This is actually the best solution. Out of experience I can say that American (/Canadian) people aren't too eager to pay a euro amount. It already was that way 3 years ago just after the euro was introduced, and that was even before the dollar dropped. US people just want their US dollar. There are a lot of billing companies that are offering the geo target possibility already. It is just like approaching people in their own language: if they see the currency that they are used to, it feels safe, so they go ahead and pay more easily. So: way more profitable!

Yep I can see that and aggree somwhat with it. However if you have a strong enough product and get them turned on enough, what they are charged in seems secondary. Like I said we were really concerned when we started with non us currencies, but have not seen either a drop is sales or a drop in our US market. It continues to grow at the rate it did when just had USD. For some sites geo targeting would work well, for others their is no need.

The people who actually have any experience in billing in euro says signups are not affected... do you have any facts to backup your nonsens?

LOL! I agree 100% actually.

It's not true that nothing matters once the surfer is horny enough to join. With all the internet cc fraud that people get warned for, they don't take risks too easily. Try asking people on a surfer board about this subject and you'll see the answers.

Fuck the damn Euro, and all the other currencies.

We need to go on one worldwide currency to get things stabilized.

And one world government too while we're at it.
