Digital Rebel w/ external Flash.. HELP!?! (+pic)
Admittedly, I'm grossly ignorant about my Rebel XT
But, I finally got some external lights (Alien Bees starter kit...Thanks AaronM and Donovan!) But I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. It only works in photos (by doing a double flash ??) when I hold down the * button while I shoot. I'd like to be able to use the external flash with the remote. Is that possible? Can I set it so the asterix button is always depressed? The flash came with a cable, but I don't see a plug on the Rebel for it. Any ideas? Oh, here's a shot from my FIRST TIME EVER using manual settings. ![]() |

http://alienbees.com/ starter kit with the strongest light. So far I love it! But lots of learning/experimenting to do. |

Hal I think you're going to need the Hot Shoe Adaptor which you can find in the Reflectors & Modifiers section of the AlienBees website. I just picked up a set myself for my Nikon and also had to purchase the hot shoe adaptor.

Yup a hot shoe adapter sounds right. That will give you the outlet you are looking for to plug in the studio lights. You could also buy a wireless transmitter.
Nice pic. Tassy looking hot as always!

Glad I could help, Tassy as LiveDose said it will allow you to plug the lights into your camera so when you push the shutter release it will fire the lights. I believe you'll also need that for the wireless transmitter too.

Halcyon,
If I wasn't old, on the fat side and balding (pink hair would be a problem), tASSy might leave you for me. Let's throw in small dick and a couple of burned out bulbs in the chandelier. Luv the pics. Good luck learning about your photos stuff. Only a matter of time and practice. Think you should post a ton of practice pics. In fact, that would make a cool site. Learning to shoot tASSy.... PL |
