how much it cost (aproximatelly) to rent an apartement in new york (preferablly manhattan) ?
i'm looking for an aparment with just 1 badroom and 1 bath..
3-5k/month is fucking expensive..
i wonder how much will cost an apartment with 2 rooms to buy and how many people from the 20.000k people that live in new york have they own apartment
I was paying 1400/mo for a studio before I left Manhattan in 2000. The same place is going for around 2000/mo now.
A lot of the full time residents of Manhattan are living in rent controlled housing or lucked out. I have a friend who was on a waiting list for cheap housing for 5 years before a new building opened up in the East Village, 2BR, plenty of room for his wife and 2 kids, and he's paying $480/mo. Makes me cry, but good for them. It's a fuckin' nice building, too.
By buddy has a 950sq ft apartment in NoHo, they just had it appraised at 1.25 million, so you do the math. NYC is insane with their prices, luckily they picked it up along time ago for $159,000 when there was no NoHo and it was the worst area in NYC to own. A good apartment in NYC is going to run you $3-4k a month

If anyone wants a great deal on a 2 bedroom in Queens let me know.
Hey, I've got a good friend looking for a condo or single family in Queens. He's been looking on realtor and he's doing drive by's. Last time I spoke with him, he plans on going to the court of records and trying to pick something up that way. He's cool with rehab
NYC is the coolest place to live during the day & party at night, & the shittiest place to sleep off a hangover, fucking 5-6am horns blaring, jack hammers repairing sidewalks. Waiting 20 minutes to get your car outta some sorta elevator lift only to find scratchs.
Fuck NYC, i got a love/hate with it.
Love the taxi drivers, its like gta3 when they got open road in the morning.
Love the food.
Love the diversity
Hate the smell
Hate the crime
and for those of you who say it isn't safe, you obviously haven't lived there and watch too many movies.
This is very true. Statiscally speaking NYC is one of the safest large cities in the country. The 70s and early 80s were pretty bad, especially when crack first hit the scene. Since then it has been cleaned up big time. Check these links:
Here's just a look at what $4000 a month could get you in Scotland
And we think our house prices are expensive
4000 a month here gets you a bigger house then that.
