How does "Lord of War" end?

It was such a piece of shit I walked out right after the Prez and his son came to NYC and showed up at his door.

Did it get any better?

He got busted when Ethan Hawke followed his wife, who followed him to his shipyard container.

Then he told Ethan no biggie because the government needed people like him to do their dirty work. So some big wig military guy comes in and they let him go.

He stops selling guns, then those africans visit him and convince him to sell again and he get's caught because his wife follows him to his storage container and the feds follow his wife. His gov friends tell that mean customs officer to let him go from the holding room and there was this whole thing about how the gov needed guys like him to handle their small business, etc.

Oh and the wife leaves him,

The movie was worth watching on a boring Friday night but definately not worth watching any other time. The acting/plot sucked, too predictable. The camera points to a car and plays dramatic music and a guy walks to the car, what do you think will happen? I am starting to doubt cage's acting after seeing this and National Treasure but it could just be his choice of contracts. I saw Leaving Las Vegas yesterday, the acting was alright but I turned it off half way just because I hate boring love stories.

I know what you mean about predictability..I saw the car thing a fucking mile off. Cage's acting has about as much depth as a trailer park gene pool. I think he went to the Mickey Rourke School of Acting. Meaning that he is just himself on camera reading a script.

Oh well. $20 down the drain.

I'm surprised, I really enjoyed the film to be honest. Here's what happened from the meeting with the President and his Son until the end of the movie.

SPOILER ALERT!!

Yuri is visited by the Andres, who are in town for a UN peace summit. Andre requests his services, but Yuri insists he's legit. Andre refuses to believe it and sets up a deal a few days from then. The itch is too much to bear, so Yuri enlists the help of Vitali and they head to Liberia. As he leaves, Ava follows him, and stumbles upon Yuri's crate. Yuri leaves for the airport, and Ava breaks into the crate, and finds a huge cache of weapons and fake passports. Once they arrive, Andre informs them that the actual deal is in Sierra Leone, and that they must go with Andre, Jr. tagging along.

The deal is going well, before Vitali takes a walk around and stumbles upon a camp with hundreds of refugees, being held captive. He watches as a young boy and his mother attempt to flee and are butchered by a collection of men with machetes. Vitali's conscience comes over him and he pulls Yuri aside. He asks his brother to drop the deal and leave. He explains that once Yuri sells those guns, those people in the camp will be slaughtered. Yuri grows furious and reminds Vitali once again that they can't get involved in that world. Vitali finally agrees but while the deal is still commencing, he wanders to one of the convoy trucks and grabs two grenades. Andre, Jr. pulls a gun on him, but Yuri knocks him out with a crowbar. Vitali blows up one of the trucks, killing Andre, Jr. in the process, but while he runs to blow up the other truck, Vitali is shot down by Yuri's buyers. He dies just as he pulls the pin on the last grenade, but Yuri places the pin back in the grenade and stands over his dead brother.

Saddened, he returns to the deal, and is given only half due to losing one truck. Yuri ships his brother back to the States in a coffin, but when the corpse goes through the x-ray, a single bullet can be seen in the monitor, lodged in Vitali's chest. Yuri had paid a doctor to remove all evidence before leaving Africa, but that single bullet is enough for the ATF to arrest and detain him, long enough for Valentine to show up. Yuri tries to make a few calls, but finds no one: his parents, as well as Ava and their young son, have all forsaken him.

Valentine and Yuri sit in a detainment room as Yuri explains the concepts of what he does and defines himself as a "necessary evil." He also reminds Valentine that he will not serve any jail time, because he has contacts and they will get him out of everything. Eventually, the scene culminates with Yuri being released by his contact, and free to flee the country. Yuri continues selling under the pretense of legitimate goods, and remains undeterred morally.

The film ends as Yuri explains that the President himself ships more guns in one day than Yuri does in one year.

For people dissing on Cage... Yes he does pick shitty roles sometimes, but I'm guessing most of you haven't seen Adapdation. The guy isn't the greatest, but you guys are treating him like Freddie Prinze Junior.

Admittedly I have not seen many movies he is in. I think the last one was "Face Off" with John Travolta.

If the general population thought that he sucks as much as you think he does then films like The Rock and Gone in 60 seconds would not have been as popular as they were.

Yeah, there are better actors out there but Cage has his own style that most people like. I liked Lord of War...But then again, I'm a gun nut.

I am a bit of a gun nut too. For a canadian anyway. It didn't change what I thought of the movie. Though I have to admit the Gold Plated AK was pretty fucking cool.

According to Andrew Niccol (written by), the filmmakers worked with actual gunrunners in the making of the film. The tanks lined up for sale were owned by a gunrunner who had to have them back to sell to another country. They used a real stockpile of over 3,000 AK-47s because it was cheaper than getting prop guns. The gunrunners were more cooperative and efficient than the studio or the crew.

This film is based on actual events.

Yuri Orlov is a composite of five real arms dealers.

No US studios would back the film. Foreign finances were secure instead.

The area code of the phone number on Valentine's business card is that of Cental Iowa.

The tanks seen in the movie were real and belonged to a Czech arms-dealer.

Before shooting the scene where tanks were lined up for sale, the filmmaker had to warn NATO, lest they think a real war was being started when they see satellite images of the set.

actually the ending was surprisingly good.
I wanted to leave in the middle of the movie, because they were feeding so much bs, but I stayed for my company and the movie turned out to be pretty interesting at the end.

Figures. My ADD kicked in and I needed a beer. My date was as bored as I was or at least willing to do whatever I wanted to do.

I guess having the ability to rationalize anything isn't so bad.

I have not seen Lord of War but despite doing shitty films in the past as some of you have said, i still believe that Nic Cage is a good actor. he gave a suerb performance in Leaving Las Vegas and Adaptation and when it comes to flicks I liked Face Off very much.

It ends exactly how it started off. In fact the beginning was really the ending. You should have watched the whole thing, it was a great flick.
