Worst "protection" ever. Get AVG free, you'll be 10x safer, and it doesn't fuck with you all the time.

Thing is, i'm on a packard bell laptop and they don't give a win cd with it anymore, it's installed from a partition on the HD and no windows version on the master DVD. I can't uninstall norton anywhere, been looking over and over.

i've been using Panda for a year. It is the only AV and firewall program that I've been excided about paying for. Greatest thing about it the fact it doesn't slow the system down. It's a gem.

Packard Bell laptop? WTF is it running, Windows 3.11? I didn't think Packard Bell still existed.

I hate Nortron as well. It doesn't let you do anything and it just ridiculous. You open up a browser and it says do you want to access the internet bla bla bla. You have to turn off half the things it has enabled by default in order to do anything normal. Plus alot of members have problems viewing leased feeds because of that piece of shit program.

Use Norton Corporate edition, MUCH better. Although you'll have to use other software for your "internet" security. Which you should be doing anyways. No pop-ups, ever.

I bought kapsersky myself. However, if you want to use a free program, I would adviceyou AVG free edition.

Kaspersky also blocks malicious scripts (and warns you) on websites. Not sure of AVG does that too...

Panda seems to get lot of positive feedback too...

Kaspersky AV + Kaspersky firewall = AWESOME

I've been using Kaspersky for about 5 years now, when they were still known as AVP. I've been through McCaffee, Norton, and free AVG. Kaspersky is just so much better, it finds viruses than neither Norton or AVG do.
I never looked back to any other anti-virus packages. If I weren't attached to Kaspersky (if it aint broke, dont fix), I'd try Panda too, since lately their labs seem to be one of the first to identify new viruses.

It IS turned off BUT i need to uninstall it and get another AV on my system.
Problem is, NIS is standard with this laptop and it isn't listed in the software list and there is no uninstall so i don't have a clue how to get it out of my system.

Yeah it sucks. Turn off all "internet security" unless you are not behind a $50 router. The virus stuff is ok, the internet security blows!

Norton/symantec sucks. It offers no real protection and slows down your system.

use avg/kaspersky/outpost/...

Norton Utilities

This used to be an amazing software but it no longer supports Mac OS 4 and they don't make note of that on their site, so after spending $49 on an upgrade the program does not show up on the OS so you have to charge back your purchase as its impossible to contact anyone who knows anything about this issue. This company has lost its way
