**Panic Attacks** Anxioty... I fuckin have its bad tonight
Does any one get them???
I feel like I'm going to have a full blown heart attack.... I go through this once a month, I know its in my head but WTF can I do to make it chill???? |

Go to a doctor and ask him to put you on Propranolol HCL Slow Release 40 or 80 MG
depending on your weight. It is made for blood pressure but they also use it for stage fright and the snipers in the military use it to shoot calmer. If you exercise it will make it so you can run your ass off and your heart will maybe go up to 110 or in my case 90 beats per minute. |

Of course in panic attacks, there's no DISCERNABLE thing threatening you, so there's nothing to fight, and where will you flee to from a non-existent entity? I used to have them big time..and what I would do is hyper-ventilate. Actually took a couple of classes on this, and MOST people do just that when they have panic attacks..this makes you dizzy and also will make your legs feel wobbly..but there's a very real explanation for that. You are EXHALING all of your carbon dioxide and taking in very short shallow breathes instead of LONG deep breaths..and then taking long deep exhales. So, for me it was all about my breathing exercises..learning not to do the old "gasping for air" thing basically and instead, just try to concentrate on taking a SLOW breath in and then count from ten to 1 backwards and EXHALE. This allows the cardon dioxide to equalize in your system and will also naturally calm you down. Don't get hooked on pills..most people can handle anxiety attacks if they KNOW what is going on and really make a point of doing the things that medical experts tell you to do in calming yourself. Hope this helps. Remember..deep slow breath in..deep slow breath out.

learn to breath properly and stop the negative thinking. serioulsy breathing right helps a LOT, and talk to someone, a friend could help ya talk it all out and you will feel sooo much better.

The solution is a lot simpler than you think. Its actually so simple you're not going to believe it. When you feel anxiety coming on, or if you are actually in a full blown attack you have to tell yourself YOU ENJOY IT. You have to tell yourself it is a good feeling. Picture yourself when you were skiing or on a rollercoaster, or something that caused adrenaline excitement. It is the exact same feeling but you are interpreting it as a bad thing which causes the panic attack. I know it sounds crazy but it works and if you can do this you will never have another panic attack again. The last one I had was 15 years ago and I actually came up with this during an attack and it stopped immediately and that is the last one I've ever had. Since then if I start feeling anxious I just tell myself bring it on, this will be fun, picture myself on a rollercoaster and its goes away as fast as it came.

I had them too. Am now rid of them.
Drugs are a short term fix, go for the Natural Way. The best advice on this thread, and what cured me was KNOWING WHAT IS HAPPENING and staying calm. Get your heart checked out by specialists - maybe two if you want two opinions, and then KNOW that your ticker is ok. Once you have this knowledge, when you feel an attack coming, just slow breathe and tell yourself that your ticker is ok so stay calm. What helped me was distracting myself - like going to talk to someone so it wouldn't escalate or turning on the TV. Don't keep a check on you pulse as yes your ticker will be ticking faster and harder and feeling that will only concern you more. It took me 2 years to get over it - but if I had this advice - It would have been half that. Hope it goes well for you.

Scary shit, use to have them myself, went to the doctor and got some pills. Refuse to take them and started think about my life. To much party, way to much work etc. etc. Started to cut down on sugar, coffee, started to train and take care of myself, now I'm healthy again!

Get away from the computer. Go put some mellow music on or watch a comedy. 4: VERY IMPORTANT. Go see a doctor. DO not get that Zanax crap. Just ask for Ativan. You don't need Zanax to beat this. Just take an ativan when you feel one comming on. Eventually you'll just grow out of it all. |

I used to get anxiety attacks in crowded public places when I was younger. People told me they could never tell I was having one because I was so good at covering it up. Covering it up may make everything look fine and dandy to those around you, but it sure sucks keeping it in. What it took for me to get over having panick attacks (haven't had one in years), was negative self-talk. Granted, not everyone has the same outlook on life as I do, but adopting my outlook on life during a panick attack might just work.
Here's what you do. Keep in mind, that this applies to not only panick attacks, but general anxiety as well, be it in a public place, or in your living room when you know you have a meeting in a few hours, etc. Hell, if someone is pissing you the fuck off, and you really want to run them over with your car, it'll work there too. Tell yourself, and don't hold back one bit, that life is pointless. We're born, we live a tough life where most of us have to live paycheck to paycheck, never achieving dreams or really truely living, and then we die. The earth we live on is a fucking spec in a massive universe, hell, there could be more than one universe, there could be infinite universes. Do you really think anything you ever do will matter? Do you really think anyone will ever remember you, or care that you existed? Everything man does, even those who cure diseases, is pointless, a waste of time. In the entire span of the universe's life time, our planet somehow spawned us. Our planet, and by comparison, our lives, are a spec. Our planet is nice and old, so by comparison, our lives are a millisecond long. Nothing you or I do will ever matter. Your neighbour doesn't matter, your best friend doesn't matter. If you rolled over and died, only the people who know you would care. What is 1 life on a planet of 6 billion people? If you die in a car accident tommorow, no one will ever remember you. No one will ever care you existed. If someone dies in a car accident tommorow, you won't remember them or care that they died. Human beings are animals, albeit, animals that're arrogant enough to believe they were created by some higher being. As long as you remember that nothing you do will ever matter, that your life is pointless, with no meaning, with no reason behind it, you're invincible. People who spend their time worrying about things are throwing away time they could have used to have fun. Why worry about the meeting in a few hours when you're going to be meeting some friends for lunch? Think everyone is looking at you? That you somehow stand out? You probably don't, but even if you did, who cares? Great, they're looking at you, and then when you leave their field of vision, they'll forget you ever existed. If you get hit by a car 5 minutes later and end up imbedded in a concrete wall 100 yards away, they wont care. Likewise, if the same happens to them, you won't care either. Life is pointless, and so are you, so why worry, why panick? What's it going to accomplish? Nothing, just like you. It's impossible to accomplish anything when you have no reason to exist. Mankind has no reason to exist. Never has, never will, but since we're here, whether we like it or not, we have to make the best of this shitfest we were born into. So basically, that's what I did/do whenever I feel anxiety or panick attacks coming on. It's pointless to panick about something that will never matter, or something that no one will remember or give a shit about. Even if there is other life out there in the universe somewhere, they wont care. By comparison, their existence is just as feeble and meaningless as ours. Even if they know you, personally, exist, they still wont care. As long as I maintain 100% nihilistic thoughts during anxiety or panick attacks, I can keep them at bay and be perfectly fine ![]()
