Best way to buy/sell/transfer a site?

I worked out a deal to buy someone's site. Now we're having a problem working out the actual trade agreements. We already agreed on the money, now we need to swap it.

I offered to pay 50% upfront and the other 50% after the site is in my possession but the other party wasn't comfortable with that. I then suggested Escrow, but the other party isn't comfortable with that either.

Are there any other options/solutions we're not thinking of? Any ideas would be appreciated.

escrow.com is the safest for both of you, if hes refusing to accept escrow i would be a little worried

I think 50% up front is fair...

Anytime I have bought sites/domains I have never had an issue. But I have always dealt with people I trust so that has never been a problem. I don't see why they wouldn't be comfortable with half now and half when you get the site unless they are up to something.

How well do you know the person. I ask because if they know you at all they wouldn't be worried about you screwing them over... your reputation speaks for itself.

If I knew this person, this wouldn't even be an issue. This is someone I have never dealt with or spoke with before. If he can provide me with references, I'll ease up some though I do think I am being quite fair.

Be careful man... if he doesn't want to go the escrow route I would be careful

i just did a 50% down deal yesterday and it was surprisingly a smooth transaction. Escrow.com was our first choice but they do not handle transactions in Arizona yet. I think escrow is the best when conducting any kind of money deal, weird that they other party wouldn't.

If the domain/site has any value I would be damn sure to use escrow.
If the other part is "nervous" about that... walk way.

and for the last post I have a few small domains for sale.
