Installing several copies of wordpress in the same mysql dbase
Will that fuck things up? Im clueless when it comes to stuff like that.

no just give it different table pre-fixes during the installation process

Nope.
During installation you have the option to change the prefix wp gives the tables it creates. Change it from "wp_" to "wp2_" etc
