The army (I think it was that branch of the military) made a statement a few days ago that their investigation into the iraqi photo matter was closed.

The obscenity charges aren't even for the iraqi photos, they are for photos of girlfriends that were uploaded to the board.

This looks to be the work of one lone sheriff trying to make a big fuss over a few nudie pics.

YARGH! He said that the publicity could cause too much negative attention, and it could cause the feds to investigate. I wonder if that "one lone sheriff" saw the piece on cnn, and decided to take a look see.

That would be my guess... someone posted in another thread that this site received attention a few years ago for posting nude pics of female soldiers, and supposedly the community he lives in is pretty conservative.

Kinda sounds like the local law has a hard-on for him.

I didn't intend to criticize your comments Chio, but with the other federal obscenity raids causing a stir I thought it worthwhile to point out that this one seemed unrelated to the others.

it's true, there was a pretty big deal made of the nude female soldiers last year posting photo's on his site.

I lived in Lakeland ( polk county) Florida for 15 years. And it is every bit as conservative as you have been led to believe. And I am not surprised, ( and I am sure chris is not as well) that this happened. Local Law enforcement knew what he was doing , and have known for a few years. He was a police officer in this city and had many friends who still were. The press was his downfall I am certain of it. With the stong religious backing in that community, I am sure the press was really frowned upon.


I am not surprised that the sherriff was really public and really clear that this was not about dead iraqi soldiers, because he would hate for his community to think that HE was sympathetic to the Iraqi people.( YES it is that backwards) But he just can't have naked people having sex on the net, not on his watch, not from his town.

The Dutch news mentioned that he got arrested aswell.....they also mention
the more than 300 charges. Additional they said that the guy claims he's under
Dutch juristiction as his server is the Netherlands. I don't think they'll buy that
