if you build and build and submit and submit and do whatever you can to get traffic working roughly 8 hours per day, do you think its possible to make 3-5k/month within a couple of months starting from basically nothing?

I started a software dev company in 2002 and outsourced all the programming to Eastern Europe... We licensed out 3D engine technology we put together for 50 grand twice in 1 year.. not to mention an extra 50k for licensing of a vid game and signed multiple contracts that have future $ tied up in them.
I would never invest 75k into porn..
I'd put it nito making mobile games and shit.
