we dont tip here in Australia.. i guess our wages are alot higher though. Hence aussies get a bad rep overseas for not tipping, cause we just arent used to doing it.

We usually tip 15 to 20 percent here. I know when I lived in Florida, they are only required to pay "tipped" employees something like $3.15/hr. In Canada, they get min.wage, so if it sucks......no tippy for you!!!!

No tipping required for anything in New Zealand.
The reaction that you get when you tip someone in New Zealand for great service is of share amazement and they literally become your new best mate! LOL |

if the service is bad, i don't feel obligated. i'm not a picky person, and i can understand if the chef gives the waiter the wrong food. so if i feel the service is bad, it is. being surly shouldn't be rewarded.

In resturants I go to frequently, I tip 20%. It doesn't take long before the entire wait staff treat me as a king...even the ones not assigned my table that night will drop by to make sure I don't need anything.
Other places, it's 10-15%. I try to tip well, as around here, tipped employees don't make minimum wage. Unless, of course, the service sucks (and it's not due to the resturant being slammed at the time). When I want to make a statement about the service, I put a quarter in my glass of water, cover it with a card, invert the glass on the table, and then pull the card out. |
