In resturants I go to frequently, I tip 20%. It doesn't take long before the entire wait staff treat me as a king...even the ones not assigned my table that night will drop by to make sure I don't need anything.
Other places, it's 10-15%. I try to tip well, as around here, tipped employees don't make minimum wage.
Unless, of course, the service sucks (and it's not due to the resturant being slammed at the time). When I want to make a statement about the service, I put a quarter in my glass of water, cover it with a card, invert the glass on the table, and then pull the card out.
