8 to 12 oz skim milk
1 tablespoon natural peanut butter
1 frozen banana
3 - 4 large frozen strawberries
1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder
1 tablespoon flax seed oil

I have a blender/food processor combo and use the food processor setting to grind up the frozen fruit.

this will be breakfast tomorrow

I make them alot for the boys, but I don't really have a recipe in terms of giving amounts. Here's one they like alot

Cherry juice (the 100% juice stuff)
frozen cherries (unsweetned)
plain yogurt
wheat germ
small amount of honey to offset tartness of cherries

Yeah, flax seed oil is good for you. You can take fishoil capsules for omega-3 fatty acids too. That's a bit off-topic but thought I'd toss that in there just because we're generally talking about good health. :thumbsup

Enjoy your shakes!

Flash frozen fruit is just as good as fresh IMO.. even when blueberries are in season I buy the store brand frozen ones. They're just great.
I need a beefy blender too.. nothing whimpy thats going to need me to stab it with a knife to make it go..

Yes they do, generally speaking. If you eat fish 3-4 times a week you won't need to take fish oil supplements as well. However, fish oil and flaxseed oil contain different types of omega-3 fatty acids.

A quick search on Google will show you that:
"All omega-3 fatty acids offer protective benefits to the heart, including making the blood less likely to clot and cause a heart attack, protecting against irregular heartbeats that cause sudden cardiac death, and decreasing risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Two especially beneficial omega-3 fats -- eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic acids (EPA and DHA) -- are found in fish. A less potent omega-3, alpha-linolenic acid, is found in plant sources such as soybeans, canola, walnut and flaxseed."

I personally stick to fish oil capsules myself, but flaxseed oil still contains omega-3 fatty acids and is beneficial for your health. :thumbsup

Yeah, if you use frozen fruits mixed with fresh fruits it's usually the best solution. Plus you won't have to use ice...

i used to be able to get these DHA organic eggs that had dha in it. i'm gonna order some of the capsules. i have also pumped up my glucosamine intake for muscles and joints working together properly. the soy protein that i use in the smoothies may have some sort of dha and epa, i need to look, i do eat fish a few times a week. i filled up the freezer so i will have to remember to deforst so i can stay up on that. i hate defrosting. especially fish. sometimes i will jsut cook it frozen. takes longer, but i don't think it hurts it.

Yeah, I don't think so either. Nothing beats a fresh tuna steak though, if it's fresh off the grill and cooked just right! There's soy protein in my compound protein powder that I make my shakes with right after my lifts, but other than that I stick to whey and some extra l-glutamine. If I took more crap than that, it'd start to become a task, so I just don't. I'm not a competitive bodybuilder or anything so I don't really see the point in going what's beyond 'healthy' personally.

Yeah. Jogging puts tons of stress on your legs. Hopefully you have a good leg workout, stretch a lot and stick to a healthy diet. Then it shouldn't be a problem until you're really old. I'm 20, so I don't really have any problems physically right now. I work out at the gym, eat right and take some supplements. I wouldn't go beyond that though. I just do it so I feel good and can play the sports I want to play.
