the term "spam" has today come to mean network abuse, particularly junk E-mail and massive junk postings to USENET.

Most people have some vague awareness that it came from at first from the spam skit by Monty Python's Flying Circus. In the sketch, a restaurant serves all its food with lots of spam, and the waitress repeats the word several times in describing how much spam is in the items. When she does this, a group of Vikings (don't ask) in the corner start a song:

"Spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, lovely spam! Wonderful spam!"

Until told to shut up.

Thus the meaning of the term at least: something that keeps repeating and repeating to great annoyance.

The term got really popular in April of 1994, when two lawyers from Phoenix named Canter and Siegel posted a message advertising their fairly useless services in an upcoming U.S. "green card" lottery.

Quickly people called it a "spam" and the word caught on. Future multiple postings soon got the appelation. Some people also applied it to individual unwanted ads that weren't posted again and again, though generally it was associated with the massive flood of the same message.

LET ME BE THE FIRST TO SAY - SHUT UP

btw. nookem - i know it is yours...

you should not spam this way... better say that you are building up this engine and everyone should submitting a couple of sites without recips and stuff... and that you will pumping some of your own traffic in there....

then:
you shouldnt have the search results on an ip-address...

have some links pointing on your sites directly to the related subcategories.. so the might get spidered...

get rid of that shitty frame...

i know it is hard work to get people signing up to an empty directory, but i will submit a few of my sites...

Wasn't this same guy here yesterday saying how one could get his site listed there for free.
He seems to be a bit slow.

nookem - get rid of categories like "young teens"

get avs categories - go to avslounge.com (hi gleem) - tell on the board that you want submissions and everyone should feel free to submit their sites without recip... say Terenzo sent you....

Nookem - you should definately think about Terenzo's suggestions. Nookem you need to realize this is business _not_ a charity. ya gotta think more about adding value and less about getting traffic for yourself. Do that, and the traffic will come.

Terenzo - I have no problem helping out a newbie - but a spam after only the first couple of posts suggests they aren't interested in the help just the free publicity.

nookem - you should perfect you engine a lot....

if you have some sites under the same keyword - there is a BREAK missing..

when one search is done, your search-box doesnt work anymore

and you shouldnt allow posting direct sponsor codes... go for avs-webmasters.... and feed your engine with tgp traffic....

and to be honest - it's actually a bad idea to start your carrer with a se....

you rather should build 1k avs-sites, hub them up and hook the engine in there.... feed with 50k each day... then it will make sense...
