Avoid the iodonized table salt variety when you can and stick with kosher.
Cut as much hidden sodium out as possible (frozen food, canned food and so on).
Then you really will not run into a problem using it as much as you like. Assuming your not on a low sodium diet.
Oh and drink plenty of water and or juice. -

Hint it will look like your using a lot more kosher salt than compared to iodonized salt. The kosher salt is in large flakes compared to the tiny crystals of regular salt. So even though it looks like more it really is not. This also seems to have people cut back on salt, odd I know.Originally posted by A1R3Kcoooool. all i have frozen is vegetables. and fruits for the blender. gonna toss that iodized shit right now and buy kosher stuff. i dont eat anything in a package anymore. no preservatives and all that shit.
BTW it is ussually sold in boxes, lower shelf of most stores in the spice isle. Also it does not really shake well out of a normal shaker. I use a container that I can take pinches out of.Comment

i LOVe love love love LOVE love salt lol im the gal that puts salt on everything but cereal & ice cream lol
but its bad for me & makes me retain more water than the hoover dam (i gain like 5-7 lbs in water the next day, its crazy). so i use a Salt-Subsitute called "No Salt"..tastes/looks just like salt but without the MSG and whatnot.

This is an old thread I know.
Yes, Americans eat way too much salt.
A bigger problem is the RATIO of sodium to potassium. Americans eat much too much sodium in relation to the little amount of potassium consumed, and this is a huge health problem.
If you are watching salt consumption, you need to cut down on processed foods, and go with more fruits and vegetables.Comment

you forgot to mention to eat a load of seafood. Otherwise he could be cutting out his only source of iodine, which your body does need.Avoid the iodonized table salt variety when you can and stick with kosher.

Sea salt for the win...Comment

You just need a small amount of iodine in your diet really. Typically you will pick this up in many places besides seafood. Hell if he even eats fast food once in a month he is covered.Comment
