During the course of an evening at her friend's house yesterday evening, my wife was repeatedly called a whore, seemingly for RESISTING sexual advances which friend's husband had made in the past. He's always been an asshole during her visits but this time he's gone too far.
This guy, Ken is his name, took offense at some statement of my wife's and shoved her against the wall. (All parties had been drinking, but fuck it, if you're a mean drunk then don't drink!)
She slugged him and left, then turned back to say something (no one remembers what it was) and he jumped her, knocking her backwards onto the kitchen table and smashing it, and pinning her to the floor. She got in a few good punches, according to her friend; apparently he didn't go so far as to punch her back but was definitely threatening her with a fist.
The police picked him up outside his apartment, where he'd climbed out the window when he heard they were coming (and I was coming, all this occured while I was in transit to pick up my wife), and held him for a few hours. The police are not pressing charges. They claim there "isn't enough evidence".
There's enough evidence for me. Now this guy has Hepatitis C so I can't just go over and kick his ass without risking infection:

Nasty disease. Fizzgig seems to have escaped direct blood-to-blood contact but if I get my hands on him there's going to be some blood flying.
On the other hand, I can't let this prick get away with it, and I can't let him think I'm afraid of him. Suggestions?

I can appreciate why you would want to pay him back. He sounds like a loose cannon, so i would just be leery opening a grudge match where he might then want to pay you back and so on. Either way, becareful.
