I'm going to catch major shit for this....fuckit.

We've seen many a bannerless freehost's screw the pooch in the last few and I see alot of people thinking it can't be done. What if I were to say we're doing it and have been for a while. This host has been up since '98. Yea we've had our downtime...like anyone else...10 hours in 2001 to be exact and as long as a week straight about 3 years ago...
The reason for this post it this, I think we got it down...

And you know, this board is not a place one should fling their nuts on the chopping block...but you know what...I have faith in us. All the frills are there...and I ain't gonna lie we take your 404 and ditch your foreign traffic to boot. Our overhead is nothing and heck we even turn a profit...I personally think this one's here to stay. Prove me wrong.

So here I am...pooing in the proverbial pool and challenging you to inspect it for peanuts...

Yes I work for the company that owns web1000.com...and webjump was sold to www.globe.com, when we decided that mainstream business just wasn't our style.

I'd say forever bake...we're making good money with our current model and I think as long as there's a web1000 it will be bannerless...I know you're trying to get me to commit, and I got no problem doing that.

It really has been around along time...and it does well for us...it lacks cgi capabilities I'll say that...but you can keep your own domain name so that's a plus.

Hmmm I just read all your site, at least you have a plan and seem to know what you doing , why it is posable to pay for BW with 404 traffic it dosent leave much for profits you must be buying BW well under 30cents to make this work.
I hope your not going to force 404 traffic
One thing 50mb of storage is not enought for the serious gallery builder these days with auto submitters makeing 100's of pages will you add extra space for these guys ?
Oh well we will just wait and see what happens in a month or so if you dont try and screw anyone good luck to you.

There alot that pop up for a month or 2.

Once again it's simple, if a free host has no ads, then the only way to make money is to 404. Bandwidth is not free and they HAVE to make money for bandwidth, and all other operating costs.

Ive been thinking about these guys for a few hours trying to work out how they will do it , theres only a one way I can see . please correct me If Im wrong . they must have the 404 screwed down tighter than my wallet , Meaning in peak times there 404 will pop up more , you can control how long a page loads before it goes 404 , so when you have some huge traffic and the server is getting hammerd 404 will come up more often , I suspect theres is set for a very short load time ? they also look like they have some way of the SE spiders picking up galleries more easyerly ? so there for ,they get more SE 404 traffic ? when they get enought people useing them on a good day they might get 20k of SE traffic witch should convert there 404 page well ? they seem to have been around for while and should have there 404 worked out buy now so they just might pull it off, well we will wait and see .
Wonder if spacedog sighed up yet ? more questions than answers so -=HOAX=- am I close or pissing in the wind ?
PS whats the max file size ? and what type of hot linking protection do you use ?

I don't buy it. Now, I don't have personal knowledge of you or your company, but I can't think of any reason in the world you'd buy a gb connection when you don't have enough traffic to justify it. Your arguments are inconsistent. On your web page, you claim you're just filling in traffic that you payed for, and here you're claiming that it's a profitable venture.

If you are certain of what you're doing, I suggest you make that more apparent in your text.

According to their ad copy, they get additional 404's by redirecting some international traffic. But the text leaves me with the impression that they don't do a % based redirect on the rest of the traffic.

Okay lemme see if I can sift thru this...

First off as far as justifying a gig connection, and whether or not this is profitable. Well we get our BW dirt fucking cheap and we always buy or pants a little big so we've got room to get fat...and this IS profitable for us...and it does use up some space...your research in the TOS and AD copy has all the answers and I see some of you have a fairly good idea of how this is working.

Web1000 is perfect for movies, yes, and as I said before its cool cause you get to keep your same domain name which helps with branding.

I was banned on some TGP's this is true...no one (including me...shhhh) liked the audio banners we used to promote purefuck. Although in their defense they convert REALLY well...owners just didn't like the fact that it could or did cost them surfers, which is understandable. Despite this I'm sure that if I was to take up the process of submitting in the future...which will probably happen at some point...I could email those that blacklisted me and explain my position and have the black removed. I've always been a straight shooter...and always will be...I've gone miles outa my way to help MANY webmasters of all levels...I can't honestly think of one person I've screwed or even treated poorly. Ok..well i've duped a few surfers...I'll admit that.

Regardless, I'm happy this thread has remained civil and that there is honest interest from well established webmasters. It is the best I could've hoped for. Alot of hard work went into this and it will pay off well for all.

bannerless hosting is total crap,,, the number of domains being hosted on zfreehost is amazing when i review galleries..all that time and energy wasted because your domain is blacklisted

bandwidth is so cheap now that i can't believe a real good webmaster is using "bannerless free host",,,

if you wanna use a good free host then stick with all the lightning's and kinghosts,,,, these free hosts have been on for a long time and i never heard of problems from them

Funny thing about "generalities" in general, its very easy to take a stance and very easy to not be held accountable for that stance. I'd say in general, people who have tried and failed at bannerless frehosting, have had a very hastily formulated revenue model. And in general have had very little in the way of supportive resources and systems to insure success. I'm all about specifics and I'm all about success...its the details, the pennies that make or break business models. Taking a step back to gain a wider view should not necessitate the neglect of the details.

Do you truly believe that there is ANYTHING that is NOT possible? We don't and that philosophy fills our world with challenges and opportunities. The test of time will render us a success or a failure in this current challenge. And at that point a banerless freehost will either become possible or not possible for us...plain and simple, but it will never be impossible.

We've entered our pooch into the race after this elusive rabbit, bet against us or with us...it makes no difference to me, but don't make GENERAL assumptions about our track record without having specific knowledge first.

First off as far as justifying a gig connection, and whether or not this is profitable. Well we get our BW dirt fucking cheap and we always buy or pants a little big so we've got room to get fat...and this IS profitable for us...and it does use up some space...your research in the TOS and AD copy has all the answers and I see some of you have a fairly good idea of how this is working. Web1000 is perfect for movies, yes, and as I said before its cool cause you get to keep your same domain name which helps with branding. I was banned on some TGP's this is true...no one (including me...shhhh) liked the audio banners we used to promote purefuck. Although in their defense they convert REALLY well...owners just didn't like the fact that it could or did cost them surfers, which is understandable. Despite this I'm sure that if I was to take up the process of submitting in the future...which will probably happen at some point...I could email those that blacklisted me and explain my position and have the black removed. I've always been a straight shooter...and always will be...I've gone miles outa my way to help MANY webmasters of all levels...I can't honestly think of one person I've screwed or even treated poorly. Ok..well i've duped a few surfers...I'll admit that. Regardless, I'm happy this thread has remained civil and that there is honest interest from well established webmasters. playa Confirmed User Join Date: Feb 2001 Location: atlanta, GA Posts: 6,432	i can't believe people fall for this all the time,,, There is no such thing as a free thing,,,if its too good to be true then it ain't,,, you place all your hard work thinking you are getting over only to end up regretting it later on,,, bannerless hosting is total crap,,, the number of domains being hosted on zfreehost is amazing when i review galleries..all that time and energy wasted because your domain is blacklisted bandwidth is so cheap now that i can't believe a real good webmaster is using "bannerless free host",,, if you wanna use a good free host then stick with all the lightning's and kinghosts,,,, these free hosts have been on for a long time and i never heard of problems from them
