I was in my basement with a broken arm and some fucker broke in upstairs and the alarm went off..had about 8 cops with dogs here in about 2 minutes..actually quite surprised..

so i talked to my security company today - they were adding another carbon monixide detector to my system, and the guy said he does custom work with a fog machine and a tape recording that says 30 seonds till poison gas release - then it releases the gas. I'd love to add that to my system

I'd probably shit myself if that happened.

Yes, had it happen twice in the same house. First time had a 9mm in my face while the guy threatened to take my bf's four year old nephew who was staying with us.

I know someone that had that happen. Inside a heavily secured country club community too which is why a lot of people let their guard down. They came in through an unlocked back door and went right to a spot where all the wife's jewelry was. He never even woke up during the burglary and thinks it had to be an inside job scouted by one of the workers during remodeling they were doing.

This place is patrolled 24/7 by security guards with dogs so they think the burglars came in hidden inside a work truck, stashed themselves in the bushes, did the job, and then hid again and left hidden in the pickup truck going out the next day.

They got 6 figures of jewelry.

I have two friends that used to live in Burnaby and two guys walked in and stole the TV they were watching. WTF.

Not me but my Uncle had this happen years ago.

He's a nutcase at the best of times and he reckons he was laying in bed and this guy just climbed in his bedroom window. My Uncle kept a cricket bat next to his bed and chased the guy around the house for about 10mins trying to hit him with it.

The guy got away without getting smashed to pieces but I can't say the same thing about the house. Quite a few door jams and bits and pieces around the house got smashed from my Uncle swinging in the dark.

My GF just got out of the shower, was walking in the bedroom and came flying right back out, ran right up next to me and whispered "someones trying to get in the bedroom window. The moment I was waiting for for years might be here, it could be the time to test the 12 guage rack noise theory!

I grabbed my 12 guage, got into the bedroom, realized that some fucker was really trying to pry the screen off, got up to about 4 feet from the window, said "Time to DIE!" and racked a shell up.

one fucking nanosecond after that I heard, "thump thump thump thump thump, then the chain link fence rattling, then a thud and grunt, then some scuffling noises (he made it over the fence, but on his head/face/ass) then more thump thump thump. He sounded pretty fucking fast, must have been black.

Yes, and it was extremely scary.
I hear knocking at the door, kind of hard but my buddies used to knock real hard so I didn't think anything of it. I look through the peephole and I see nothing - someone was covering the peephole. I say "Who is it?" they respond "open up" "No." I say, and then I heard some really load banging and I start seeing peices of the wood door break through.

This was back when I lived in my apt 2 or so years ago. I had a crowbar in the kitchen by the door because, I thought, I could be prepared for something like this. See, I was into drugs and people I didn't even know were coming over my apt and hanging out and getting high - very stupid.

I start seeing the door being broken down, and by the time it really kicked in as to what was happening it was way too late. 2 big construction worker guys break right through the door with hammers. I started moving back saying "What do you want?" etc and they just rushed me. One of them got one huge blow to my head and I went down. When I was on the ground they both started just beating the fuck out of me. I crawled to the open door (to the apt corridor) and I managed to crawl out and stand up.

They came out after me, and I didn't even move I was just so fucking scared and I don't know. They came out and I kept asking them what they wanted and to take everthing I don't care. I was crying I was in so much pain, fear and shock.

While I was out there, they both used their hammers against me.
I believe each of them got one solid blow into my face with the hammers. The one, I remember, got right above my eye. My face split open and there was blood everywhere. I couldn't see for a little while (both because of the blow and because I wore glasses which were now thrown somewhere in the apt) I remember blood getting in my eye. The other blow was somewhere on the top of my head I believe.

At this point I'm screaming in pain. A neighboor who lives across the hall opened her door. I thought, wow I'm good now. No. They screamed at her to get the fuck back in the door. She did.

I was basically on the ground a bloody mess at that point.

Eventually they ran off for some reason. I was laying there for a minute or two when that neighboor came out again. I pleaded for her to call 911 and she did. I don't really remember much from that point up to when the cops came. About 4 or so of them came in the building and asked if I wanted an ambulance. I said no and they told me I should get one etc but I wasn't really making the money to be able to afford an ambulance at that time so I refused (no health insurance at that time).

Went to the police station and answered questions and all. I went home a couple hours later, the place was really destroyed glass everywhere. They smashed the door with such force that a hanging light fell down and shattered. It was nuts.

But, I'm lucky to be alive now that I think of it.
After that I slowly stopped doing drugs.
That was by far the absolute scariest experience in my life. I will never forget it. You always think "Oh, I can handle myself in a situation like that" etc but, It happens so, so quick. I KNEW the crowbar was right there in the kitchen, but it just happened so fast that by the time I thought of it I was fucked.

Did I put up a fight?
Who wouldn't. However, I'm not nearly as in shape as I should be and my hits to them didn't even phase them. Plus I'm pretty weak.

I've had numerous break ins at my crib. most while I'm not there, of course. My dogs chase the pricks off. 2 black labs and a Lab shepard.
When I was about 16 a couple of crack heads try to break in at my moms house.

They got the door lock free, but the chain got caught, I was in the room. guy stuck his hand in to try and unlock the chain, I took a hand saw across it, he didn't stick around

2 years back I was in the kitchen when some one tried to pry open my back door, my dogs went crazy and i went to see. out the door window. He freaked out when he saw me. I flung open the door and my lab chased him over the fence. He got away though, if only I didn't keep my guns locked up

My neighbor had a break in, they cooked a frozen pizza, stole their DVD's and beer. The guy stepped in wet paint coming in the window, left a white foot print back to his house. He lived across the street. LOL

It's weird. After that happened I became very nervous, paranoid and self-conscious all the time. Like, I don't think I will ever have the fear I had that day ever again in my life, it was so bad. After they left I was absolutely terrified for a long time that they would come back.

And here's the kicker:
Guess what the one guy got charged with?
- SIMPLE FUCKING ASSAULT
THAT'S IT.
The other one was never found. The one who got charged turned himself in.

I got $200 in restitution for the door, but I didn't sue or do anything else. I was poor back then and didn't have the money to pursue anything. I was just thankful I was alive.

I remember even weeks after that happened I was absolutely terrefied wherever I went, when the doorbell rang and all.

When i lived in california some nutjob broke into my house, i woke up after he kicked in the door, but didnt actually hear anything , just light scratching. My pitbull was sound asleep. I pulled on some boxers and went downstairs, as i come down the stairs i see a shadow from the kitchen area , so i went back upstairs got a bat and called the cops. Then i went downstairs , and spot the guy trying to get my safe out the front door, but its kind of a gun-safe so its way bigger than the door and he can't seem to figure it out. He hears me coming down the stairs and bolts for the backdoor, i ran around through the kitchen and met up with him in the living room , knocking him with a flying elbow through the front window. He gets up and runs away, but i notice a strange car in my driveway , so i opened the hood and pulled the wiring harness out and went back inside the house. The cops showed up a few moments later , just as the guy showed back up for his car, so the cops arrested him and took him away. Funny thing was is they never came and took his car . It stayed in my driveway for a few days , and i figured they would eventually tow it, but nobody did , so i stole his stereo system and his speakers, and rolled it out onto the road. It was gone the next day , but i never saw a tow truck , i thyink either he had a friend come get it or someone stole it from him ..

Yup - had a crack head bang at my door a couple of years ago at 2am. Scared the shit out of me because I was in bed watching FBI files on discovery channel. Great show to be watching at the time. Anyway, the fucker was trying to get rid of the cops that were on his tail. Aparently, the fucker was buying crack from a crackhouse, got in his car, drove off and had cops following him. They followed him all the way across town in my little neighborhood, where they lost him. So, I called the cops and they told me they were looking for someone in my hood and it was probably this person. They arrested the fucker.

2 other times, I've had people who wanted to "use the bathroom" or "use the telephone". Turns out these kids are the same kids that have been breaking into other homes in my hood. Both times they came knocking, I told them to fuck off.

I had a friend in the 80's that had a real nasty situation happen. He opened his front door and two black guys knocked him flat out, tied him and his girlfriend up, pistol whipped him until he gave up where his safe was and the combination.

Then they put a pillowcase over his head and they stipped his girlfriend's pants and panties off. She was a really hot looking Italian girl and was freaking out and screaming while they were accosting her and about to rape her. She was clever though and told them she had just had an operation in her uterus and if they raped her she'd bleed to death and it would kill her. They bought her story, and just knocked her out cold and then left.

Damn..they make movies out of stories like that.That is scary

When I was younger I let one of my little brothers move into my house because he worked nights and would be gone when I was there.

One afternoon he woke up and found some guy in the house. THe guy pulled a gun on him and told him to go back into his room.

I think the guy left with a tv as I recall.

Some great stories. Question though. Can you legally kill someone who has broken into your home? Personally, if I had kids, and a gun, I would blow the fucker away and ask questions later. But I've heard criminals and criminal's families coming back and suing for this kind of stuff.

I'd be paranoid after that too, geez, thats crazy. I realize that was part of your past, but you didn't really elaborate on their motive since it seems they weren't there to rob you, but just really rough you up. Was it retaliation for a bad drug deal or something that nature?

happens alot out here in arizona. even with security patroling and a gate which isn't shit. i figure a good guard dog and a shotgun will wake any would be robber up.

Pretty much the same thing happened to my grandparents, 2 men dressed up as policemen and forced there way into their house, they tied my grandparents up and wrecked the entire house searching for money, they threated to kill my grandmother unless my grandad told them were the money was, somehow my grandad managed to break free and he managed to get to a neighbours house and sound the alarm.

Unfortunetly the shock was too much for him and he died minutes later

That type of robbery happens in Northern Ireland all the time, the worst part was the fact that they caught the fuckers who did it but once they got bail they went down south into Ireland which is a different country.

yah .. one time when I was in High School I was staying at a friends house. It was a split-level ranch home where you could get to the bottom floor through a side breeseway, but their were also windows to his room in the same area.

I had some music on and was laying on the floor while my friend was passed out. Somebody opened the window from the outside and I looked up. He must have realized that someone was there, because all of a sudden the window slammed shut and I heard running.

I woke up his brother and grabbed a bat, but by the time I got to the driveway, some minivan barreled out of their street onto the main road.

It happened in college. They came in took what they needed and left. The police were completely worthless.
