Canada is a friendly and good neighbor, and after all, hockey is their national sport. I'm not unhappy about the result at all.

This point has been raised many times lately, and it has some important significance for sure. Back in 1950 Canad won gold by the great playing of the Edmonton Mercury's team. When that team returned here they warned the hockey world of the coming Scandinavian, Czech and Russian teams that would surprise us. Of course they were laughed at, but their prediction came true right in our faces by the 70's.

Yes, the Olympic gold has eluded Canada for many many years. However, we HAVE won a considerable amount of world cups, and also the highly prized CANADA CUP, one of the most highly prized awards in all of hockey. We HAVE had the lion's share of hockey glory over the years, it's just that Olympic gold that has eluded us for so long. And, other than the miraculous win by team USA (of which Canadians were cheering them on like CRAZY) back in 1980, we were losing a lot because our junior players were having to play against professionals from other coutntries, which wasn't put right until just over 10 years ago.

Big Congradulations to Wayne, Pat Quinn, and the Canadian Olympic team (all of them), for playing their games with their heart and soul and with class and dignity. It was our best medal count ever, with 17 medals total, 4 up from the last Olympics.

Congrats too to the USA and GERMAN athletes, for those two countries have had the highest medal counts of ALL TIME for any winter Olympics ever. An amazing show, a great 2 weeks of sports (with a few bumps which is normal), I won't soon forget these games, if ever.

...now it's time tomorrow morning to get back down to business. :D
