Anything i can do about an unreadable disk?

A normal writeable cd. It has some important stuff on it. The date part is scratched and the silver side actually lost some of its silver. Im not sure if thats there for any purpose but if it is can i fix this?

The silver on the top of the cd reflects the laser from the cd-rom. You're out of luck.

Yes, the silver is the most essential part of the cd. Scratches and stuff like that you can repair with some epoxy-like fluid. How important stuff?

scrape all of the silver off until the disc is opaque
then just hold it up to the light and read it that way

Not kidding. A clerk at the grocery store applied toothpaste to my ATM card after the plastic bag trick didn't work. It worked. I tried it on a few CD's that I couldn't read anymore and it worked. I did try it on a DVD from Blockbuster and it didn't work...so who knows but as a last resort I would try it.

Simple if your credit card or ATM card has scratches on it, one puts in a plastic bag and swipes it...may work or not and could shut the whole store down to accept ccs so that is why I said trick.

Like I said toothpaste work for me to save a few CDs...who knows maybe soap works

I got one from someone with no damage to it, and you can see that it has data on it, but none of my computers can read it.
