So, is is that no one's interested in hockey until the Canada-US game? ... or is it that no one's interested in Russian hockey, or.... is it that no one's interested in anything that isn't about a big flame-out war?

7-2 for Russia, and a Bronze medal, some great powerplay moments in the game as well. I gotta hand it to Belarus though, they played well in these games and had a storybook upset over the Swedes to take home as memories.

Ya got it wrong again Stang -- the pair of figure skaters didn't bitch or whine or say one word about it. They were asked 100's of times from US and Canadian media about the unfair marks and their answer was standard "we're just here to skate". It was the fans and the millions of viewers and the world media that spoke up and said something. And they were right in doing so.

There's the difference between us where hockey is concerned then. I played the game, I love the game, and I can appreciate the superior prowess and innate skill for the game in Gretzky no matter who he was playing for. He never once played for the Winnipeg Jets, but I'm a fan of his just the same. In leagues packed with big rock solid monsters that wanted to take his head off at every turn, he managed to break every scoring record ever recorded (except the one set by Winnipeg's Billy Mozienko of 3 goals in 21 seconds). Hasn't this been the underlying theme of these games all along? Some of it has been needless bullshit, but some of it has been legitimate complaints that warrant some attention.

I have a bit more positive outlook on tomorrow's game. I predict that both teams are going to play like they are all on bennies and coffee, and the level of play is gonna be insane. I predict redord viewing audiences, and lastly I predict that barring any stupidity or outrageous conduct on anyone's part, it will be a game for the hall of fame annals.

Jeez man, the game hasn't even begun and you're already whining about how much whining there MIGHT be.

You need to drink. Start now, drink lots. Don't stop drinking until about 2 days after the game is over. This will put everything in proper perspective for you.

Maybe they'll tie, and there'll be a shootout, heh heh. Not that I want the game decided that way, but that always provides some high-level nail-biting anxiety. I bet the heart-attack rate goes way up for the few minutes that a shootout would be on. Gives a whole new meaning to the term "sudden death".

Belarus is a close relative of a wal-rus. The walrus was nearly named walarus, but someone decided it was much too "Aussi-like" so they shortened the name to walrus. The belarus is shorter and fatter than it's more northern counterpart, and it's tusks come out of it's ass as opposed to it's face.
