At Jan Internext, a speaker mentioned that DMOZ is on its last legs and that it wouldn't be around much longer.

I eventually got listed on DMOZ a few years ago and have been there ever since. I'm not mad at them.

I agree, while it was common knowledge in the SEO field (and most everywhere else) that a DMOZ listing was critical, the directory itself was awful. And no doubt a lot of people paid, schmoozed and asskissed to get in there.

I added our site Call Center Staff Leasing on DMOZ about three weeks ago.

We have a program called groopz on our site which lets me track and chat with each visitor to any of our pages. I just caught my DMOZ editor proofing our site for approval. He was so shocked that I knew he was a DMOZ editor. We got approved.

DMOZ is alive.
