Dell Craptop

What's the quickest you've had a Dell laptop or computer crap out on you?

I got a new one arrived here yesterday, late afternoon.

I didn't even get a chance to use it, it wouldn't boot up and according to Dell there's a motherboard issue.

It better not take them long to get me a replacement.

I'm on my third Dell laptop. It wasn't till this one that I had a problem. The "D" button fell off. They overnighted a new keyboard.

Yeah...they're going to send out another unit. They said overnight, but tomorrow is Saturday...so we'll have to see.

Guess this one missed the Quality Control phase of the build.

Never a problem out of the ordinary. By far the most solid machines I've ever owned. My new D610 is great.

The girl on the phone told me that this happens from time to time. Probably one in every 10,000 or so.

Looks like I won the craptop lottery. Oh well...they did confirm that I'll be getting a new unit tomorrow.

Wonder why it took 2 weeks for them to get this one to me if they can send out an exact replacement in 24 hours AND on a Saturday.

The last lappy I had that wasn't Mac was a Thinkpad.

It took a spill down the stairs at one point and didn't skip a beat.

You can drive NAILS with a thinkpad.

IBM desktops are crap though.

DhELL often have very poor design... eg; cpu fan/heatsink sends hot air directly onto hard drive... many basic design flaws like this can cause a drive to overheat and die or fry a chip on the board... you may be lucky and pick up a good model but the majority of the laptops/desktops.. especially the cheaper ones are second rate design and should be avoided.

What I'm hearing is that Dells with that integrated wireless are REALLY prone to heat issues. I have a friend whos had to send his in THREE times.

My dells are all p4s without integrated wireless and I havent had that problem. I'm just not impressed with the machine as a whole.

I think I'll stick with IBM

My Fujitsu crapped out in two days. It's on its way back and they are sending me a new one.

I've had Thinkpads. Did not like them at all.

The Toshiba worked well; but, it was a little too light for me.

I didn't get a chance to use the Fujitsu long enough to decide whether or not I like it. I'll see after I get the second one.

That's how I feel about this Dell. Would have rather waited to get the bad taste in my mouth though.

My Dell shits the bed all the time. This is the 3rd replacement computer in a year. Dell fixed them and send two new ones but it is pain in ass. Now this one beeps and freezes sometimes. No virusus or spyware but still annoying.

For me, the mouse started locking up. Two days out of the box.

I'm not going to sit around on the phone with tech support to figure out if the usb ports were bad or whatever else could go wrong...so they can have this puppy back...too new to trust it, even if it were a simple fix.....they've been real nice about it...but, I had it set up and ready to use. Now, it's format and return..and wait.

Ya know? If I don't like the second one? I'll send that one back, too, and look for another brand.

I have a 3 year old Dell Inspiron 8500. I use it anytime I'm away from home and my boys use it almost constantly as a desktop at home. They play warcraft, etc. on it. Never a problem at all.

The more people accept crooks and exposed and proven criminals like Candyflip on this board, the more it shows the desire people have to not only be around people shown to steal, but to work with them and help them.

Everyone has read those threads a million times I'm sure. Read thru them and they're all explained. Shit...2 years and you're still crying about 1 template.

I've never taken anything from anyone. I thought you were fucking with me, so I fucked back.

Get over it and get over yourself. I'm outta here for the day. Got up early, got my shit and I'm off to spend the afternoon on the Seadoo.
