Hardly the best.
I have a treo 650 and even that has more features.
I also have a nokia 8910i and it's a great (yet a bit dated) phone.
Depends if you want a toy (smartphone) or a good phone-phone

Go with the i860 from Nextel. Its durable and has everything you need, including a lil button on the side that makes it flip open. Overall its a great phone.

Dude, let me try and help. Are you looking for the best carrier? or the best Phone? If its carrier your after you would have to indicate where your located to get the best possible coverage.

If its a phone like lets say a Moto Razor that is only available in GSM Tech )(which is only available with Cingular and T-Mobile). Basicly If you like a particular phone you have to use its particular carrier and or technology.

Carriers: Sprint-Nextel will be a powerhouse very shorly their rates are extremly low compared to verizon and their coverage is almost as good. T-Mobile you may get a good price but thier coverage is horrible! Verizon good coverage HORRIBLE PLANS! Cingular ok coverage ok plans.

If you hate absolutly hate Sprint then I would look into Nextel and vise versa.

Flip phones are a pain in the anus so try and steer clear of them. However, different phones have different positives so it depends on what you want it to do (and if some smart arse says "make calls" I will not be amused).

I've had all carriers over the years and Verizon seemed to have the best coverage and connectivity.

However, i recently switched to T-Mobile. You can get a Sidekick II cheap now.

They have it listed as $200CDN if I take a 2yr contract with them. (Fido is the only carrirer with them here) Im with Telus right now, I have an LG4600 which is nice, but Telus is a pain in the ass & they are starting to screw around allot with thier plans etc...& I despise Bell (with exception to my dish with them heh)
Montreal sucks for carriers..

So if I'm with Cingular, and I want to use the phone in Florida, Panama and Europe, I should get Motorola Razor quad?

The Motorola Brick is still the best phone I ever had...

According to basic specifications we've seen, the device is based on a 520MHz Intel XScale PXA270 processor backed by 192MB of memory, of which we reckon at least 64MB will be ROM. The phone runs Windows Mobile 5, aka 'Magneto'.

The stylish candybar handset is equipped with a 2.7in, 240 x 320 display. It's also fitted with a 1.3 megapixel camera. There's no keyboard - the device presents a virtual, on-screen pad. Its radio supports tri-band GSM with GPRS. Bluetooth 1.2 connectivity is on board too. There's a SD/MMC slot on the side for memory expansion.

The GPS receiver is integrated within the body of the device, so there's no flip up antenna or receiver stub. There's a slight bulge on one corner, but nothing to snag on the lining of your pocket, we'd say. The A701 uses the SirfStar III chipset, we understand.

Mio is pitching the A701 as a phone with PDA functionality, rather than the other way round. While it's not the first smart phone with integrated GPS, it's the first we've seen that uses a conventional handset form-factor. It's certainly better looking than the iPaq hw6500 series, and even the inadvertently leaked upcoming hw6700 series.

Two weeks ago, the Bluetooth Qualification Programme website posted details of Mitac's A201 device. Mitac manufactures Mio's product, and from what little spec information included in the A201 certification data, it could well be the foundation for the Mio A701. The A201 is also believed to form the basis for an upcoming Medion-branded device, the MDPNA 1500.

There's no word yet on availability or pricing. ®

Nokia 6620 with Motorola H850 Bluetooth headset is really sweet. The camera quality is pretty good. Cingular service rocks where ever I've taken the phone. Damn thing has so many options and software packages that I need to take a weekend to study all the programming. I'm satisfied that I get my money's worth.

If I have to spend one more day with Sprint I am going to kill myself. Worse service ever.... In 2002 I had Sprint and was so frustrated with their service and CS that I threw my phone against a wall and then used a friends phone to call and cancel.

For some reason unknown to me I signed up with them again in 2004. Most likely because all my family uses them. Now I am just waiting for my damn contract to expire so I can go back to Cingular and get the Moto Razr. I haven't seen a phone yet that I want as much as that one.

Hmmmmm Abadfish maybe you could try this.... I know you don't have Verizon but for you Verizon people if you hate Verizon heres a way to get out of your contract for free.

Getting Out of Verizon Wireless Contract with no Penalties

This is a good deal if you are on a Verizon contract and wanted to cancel without early termination fee.

For anyone that has a Verizon phone contract - the pay-by-the-month type you will notice on your most recent statement, that, as of October 1st, all lines will be charged a 40c "Administrative Fee."

According to the Customer Agreement (see Below), you can call Verizon within 60 days of this notice and have them cancel your contract and not have to pay any early termination fee.

Quote:
" Customer Agreement states
"UNLESS OTHERWISE PROHIBITED BY LAW, WE CAN ALSO CHANGE PRICES AND ANY OTHER CONDITIONS IN THIS AGREEMENT AT ANY TIME BY SENDING YOU WRITTEN NOTICE PRIOR TO THE BILLING PERIOD IN WHICH THE CHANGES WOULD GO INTO EFFECT. IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE YOUR SERVICE AFTER THAT POINT, YOU'RE ACCEPTING THE CHANGES. IF THE CHANGES HAVE A MATERIAL ADVERSE EFFECT ON YOU, HOWEVER, YOU CAN END THE AFFECTED SERVICE, WITHOUT ANY EARLY TERMINATION FEE, JUST BY CALLING US WITHIN 60 DAYS AFTER WE SEND NOTICE OF THE CHANGE"

I just ordered a ROKR being I was bored the other day. I love my Windows Smartphone and have seen these a number of times.

The ROKR isn't getting good reviews, so I might have to dump it for one of these.

dunno about that, I'm on an island in the middle of nowhere and I get good reception on my treo 650, everyone understands my speech just fine.
I don't know whether the coverage in finland is better than in US, but this phone hasn't lost it's reception even once while I've used it.

The Sony Ericsson K750i kicks ass but the Sony Ericsson W800i is even better I think and you get a 512mb Sony memory stick along with the W800i.
