do a little more reading. while the evo may not make as much horsepower the handling is impecable. like i said, i have seen a $38k evo beat a $125k ferrari.

price really isn't everything.

Yeah, you'll be handling circles around Z06 in no time!

the fq400. my car, but with 400 hp at the crank. just 100 more than i have.

that kind of hp is easily added to my car with a new intercooler, and some piping, and an exhaust.

read and learn

The result of this thoroughness is a car that Mitsubishi claims is 'the fastest accelerating four-door saloon car ever produced by a major manu-facturer.' On a rolling road, the Evo registers 405bhp at 6,400rpm and a no less impressive 355lb ft of torque at 5,500pm, but the real pub-bore figures are to do with the acceleration. With the aid of four-wheel drive, this Evo pummels its way from 0-60mph in just 3.5 seconds and hits 100mph in 9.1. Consider, for a moment that BMW's M3 takes 4.9 seconds to reach 60mph or that the Porsche Carrera GT requires 3.9 seconds. This is one mighty chariot.

iwantchixx 09-15-2005 01:37 PM

Bottom line.

Some like imports.

Some like domestic.

WHoc ares. It's a car. You buy what you like and nobody cares in the real worlds.

personally I like the reliability, efficiancy and luxery of imports but I like the mean look and sound of domestic muscle. Nothing quite feels like that thud you get in the sole of your feet with each ignition in the cumbustion chambers.

Now if they could cross that with import reliabilty efficiancy and luxery I'd be a happy camper.

new intercooler, new ic pipes (upper and lower). new twin scroll unit back for the exhaust including downpipe, high flow cat, and cat back, new turbo pipes, ralliart air intake, and an aem computer to control it all should put me just about there.

smack 09-15-2005 01:38 PM

basically the car i got is just very restricted. all the hoses are wound in odd fashions, as is the twin scroll unit on the turbo. dc sports makes a very nice tig welded piece for that though.

the ic pipes are atrocious in my viii, smoothed out ones from ralliart or perrin work wonders.

0-60 time showing great traction from AWD, 0-100 now showing the drag associated with it. Compare it with:
Car & Driver C6Z06 Test:

11.7 sec. @ 125 MPH 1/4 mile

0-60 in 3.5 sec.

0-100 in 7.9 sec.

0-150 in 17 sec.

Neck in neck at 60, blown away by 100.

Pehraps almost 100 to the flywheel. Super tech power programers don't give that much at all.

Thats just so the car can breath better where is your power :-x

all I see is induction system and noise

Sure, let's start by examining the tires that come on each of the two cars, shall we? Maybe each car's weight?

EVO is a great car, it's fast and it handles well. It doesn't outhandle a Z06 off the showroom floor, no matter what you think you've seen. It's okay, I'm not calling the EVO a POS, I'm just pointing out it's not the very best of the best like you believe.

that's all the car really needs is to breath better. i've been researching these parts pretty exstensively before deciding on perrin etc. i have seen dyno results with the new intercooler alone for 40 whp.

even a conservative estimate of 20 whp would put me well on my way with the other mods.

This is something we'll never agree on, so let's agree on this:

Z06's are excellent cars.
Evo's are excellent cars.
The best handling car is an Elise :winkwink:

The Vishnu evo 8 did 1.06g on the skidpad. Only tack on an extra $3,200 to the cost of the evo and yours can do that too :winkwink:

Of course not. The Z06 has a slightly better skid pad rating, it slightly lighter I believe, and comes with bigger/better tires.

Again, I'm not trying to put down EVOs .. they're great cars.

The cream of the crop from the site i'm getting this from upgrades tons of stuff, but isnt too cheap. upgraded turbo, cams, ecu, etc for 550whp, 0-60 3 seconds, 11.2 quarter mile.

You could easily add more, but those are the least expensive and most common evo 8 upgrades. The stock turbo is good for 430 hp and tq or around there.

besides, this is all in good fun. i appreciate how into your car you are. it's nice to see people with the same passion for fast cars, even if they are on the opposite side of the import/american fence.
