They get extra bucks on the welfare check to turn their back on Canada. Its part of our multiculcuralism program.

So far it's a great hockey game. Belarus seems to be playing at the level of their game against the Swedes, but Canada is also steadily improving throughout the tournament, and the Canadians are all over them. Yet, it's a close game score-wise. For a while there it looked like Canada was doing the long pass thing a bit too much, but they seem to have found their groove late in the period.

There is no animosity between these two teams as far as I know, and the play has been quite sportsmanlike so far.

My prediction for final score: Canada 5, Belarus 2

So far Yzerman has my vote for first star, but super Mario is doing some amazing stickhandling too. Hope he can pot one or two before the final whistle, he's playing solid.

CDSmith,
I feel good to read your comments about the games (against Sweden, Finland and now Belarus)
You notice there is also another team playing, and comment about the game itself.

That's because I'm an old-time hockey man. I've loved and played the game all my life. I've played it rough, and I've played it gentlemanly, and I know good hockey when I see it. Belarus is playing above themselves, in spite of the way the score looks. They are playing the best hockey I've seen them play in a long time, and are making for a great game.

Kariya's last goal from Yzerman looked good though, very good.
Outstanding players for Belarus are their goaltender, and Soleil (sp?) and Romanov.

The 7-1 score tells me that Canada did not underestimate the Belarus team. We played them as hard as possible, because they showed what they are capeable of if given some room to move the puck.

Belarus deserves the Bronze for beating Sweden, so I wish them much luck in the bronze medal game.

No chance. Whether they face Russia or USA, they cant make a surprise twice in the same tournament.

Don't bet on it. Despite the score of this game, they had a strong showing again, especially in the first two periods. If some of their few good scoring chances had've paid off for them, the game might have turned out differently. Whatever, the fact is that Belarus is a dangerous team, contrary to what some might say. I believe they have every chance to beat their opponents for the bronze, because they have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Weather they play team USA or the Russians for bronze, either of those teams will be devastated by not winning gold so they might be easy pickins.

I believe Belarus can do it if they play their hearts out and don't give up too many scoring chances to their opponents. They have some good snipers on their squad, and their goaltending has been pretty solid lately.

Oh yeah that is a good point!
Finland beat Canada in bronze medal match in Nagano. I think our morale was a lot higher back then than Canada's. And morale means a lot in these games when all players are technically very good.
