Allergy Tips

Are you allergic to pollen, mold, and elms? Dust, ragweed, and dogs?

If you?re already taking Non-Drowsy REACTINE, you know that it helps relieve your allergy symptoms indoors and outdoors.

An additional way to help reduce your exposure to the allergens that cause your allergy symptoms is to follow some simple, sensible allergy prevention tips.

Manage your allergies with these simple tips.

Your Cat or Dog

* Keep your pet out of the bedroom (and off the bed, the carpet, the furniture, your pillow).
* Brush your pet outside of the house to remove loose hair and other allergens.

Your Bedroom

* Use window shades or curtains that can be laundered or cleaned frequently, instead of heavy drapes.
* Don?t hang sheets or clothing outdoors to dry, as pollens and molds can collect on them.

Your Kitchen

* Mold loves places where food is stored. Clean refrigerator and drip trays regularly.
* Don?t forget to vacuum behind your refrigerator to prevent dust build-up.

Your Living Room

* If carpet is necessary, choose a type with a low pile. It offers fewer places for dust and allergens to hide and is easier to clean.
* Keep the number of house plants to a minimum, as they promote mold growth

Trees

* Eliminate any rotting tree trunks near your house, as mold can thrive in the wood.

Grass

* Leave lawn-mowing and leaf-raking to someone else. These household tasks stir up pollens and mold.

Weeds

* Minimize outdoor activity in the morning between 5:00 AM and 10:00 AM, when pollen levels are at their highest.
Take a look at their "Indoor/outdoor Prevention Tips"

Tylenol Allergy and Sinus or even the off brand or generic versions work great, and it doesnt leave me with that detached and hung over feeling alot of allergy meds give you.
It says do not take for more than 7 days or some non sense like that, but every year during allergy season I take it for months at a time. The various meds I have gotten from doctors to help with allergies suck and do nothing at all and they cost 4 times as much as running down to the local store and picking up a $4 package of pills.

Dude, I switched off of Claritine to Reactine. Claritine worked for a while but then didnt work at all.
Ive used Reactine Extra Strength now for a while (10mg instead of 5mg per pill) though I find this season is pretty bad, my allergies are still acting up too sometimes

The benedryl makes me a little woosy but I'm spaced out enough normally so you can't really tell the difference

I use Zyrtec - The generic name is cetirizine if that isnt the trade name in Canada.

By far the best for me. Good luck - I know it can be a nightmare.

Man, I have horrible allergies, especially nasal. I sneeze a ton.

Use Flonase. I think if you do a search, do some reading on it, you find it is highly recommended. It is a nasal spray, but it is one of the new, non-addictive ones. It works unbelievably well.
