				question about domain registrars

Do domain registrars store data from availability searches?

The other day I checked the availability of a three seperate three word domain names at godaddy.com. All three were available. Since I was on my blackberry I had to wait to purchase the domain names. When I finally got around to it the next day 2 out of the 3 domain names were taken. I look today and all 3 are gone. This has happened on several occasions. Coincedence? Or do they actually collect the data from these searches.

I think they collect data from the searches.

I have run into the same situation several times. Now, I write them down and register them right when I check them. .

Some of the Registrars watch the searches apparently.

I've had it happen also. To be direct though, my guess is its some techs on the inside doing this and not the Registrars themselves as companies doing it.

I'm going to take the advice given and only check availability when I am in a position to register. There is no way that any of these three word combos would have been registered by someone else only 1-2 days after I searched for them. I am fucking pissed

I now remember using CheckDomain.com WAP website since my HTML browser was acting funny. I suspect that they are the culprits.

Same thing happened to me last week, I noticed wildwest domains knabbing them- was using the bulk availibilty searches at both godaddy.com & whois.sc. Could be packet sniffing too?
