it's going to take a while before google can take over as they have lots of tools that are out there like maps, email, toolbars.. but operating system? give them a couple of years more!

I agree. specifically what softwares are supported by the new OS. We have Redhat and MS on the battlefield, but still competition has a long way to go.

agreed. 2 OS on such a huge market is way to little! google has the cash and can build a OS no problems! and maybe give it free to users!

not really Google doesnt have a lot of cash, not enough to say they have cash.

only 2.5B right now and will be adding 4.1B within a week
but thats not enough when you compare to major IT companies
Google is also adding 15 new employees everyday, so they're building something there

They must fix their SE first and their GIM before they attempt to take on OS.

microsoft has the resources to domionate whatever marketplace they decide to enter. look at how quickly xbox grew even with an already entrenched playstation majority.

they definately have the money and the minds.

hmm... i'll go with mickey just because of the sheer buying / bribe power all that money brings, although google is the one who is improving daily.

tough call

in order for google to take of microsoft, they have to take on red hat first. I think that should be answered first.

Google still has a long way to go
GOOG Mkt Cap: 85.71B
MSFT Mkt Cap: 282.81B

Google wont be making its own OS, I dont think its on their agenda, they're about data, nothing else.
MS isn't born yesterday, they're been on top of their game for quiet some time, proven themselves as a tough competitor.
