I get so much shit from people, its not even funny. Yes, i sell porn to desperate men & women or just horny fuckers in general (like myself). Yes, i love my job. Yes, there are ups & downs to this CHOOSEN career (such as insomina, and like mrthumbs said, i think about my job 24/7 no matter what/who im doing.)

Last night I got lectured for 30 minutes by two people about how I need to get a job and do this and do that and follow my dreams when I've been doing this for 5 years and love it a lot more then they care for their jobs. I also make more then them and live a better life then them.

What pisses me off the most is when I'm working on shit and people assume since it's on the computer it's not as important and it's alright if I take off or don't work. So I can hang out whenever or do their errands.

Even I feel guilty when my friends have a day off from their work and they call me in the middle of the day wanting to hang out and I tell them I'm working. I have a feeling they feel that I'm blowing them off since I am making the decision to work and not a boss.

A god I love that post...... I am dealing with this shit several times a day, ppl have no idea what they are talking about.....

Actually I work smarter, not harder... and I can stop working whenever I want. So yes, some people might think I'm not working hard during summer (true!) and can enjoy life as much as possible. (also true).

In 2 weeks I will go back to work 24/7 so I can enjoy the next summer. That's what I call having full control of your life. :)

Back in 98 when I hadn't made any $$.... everyone "he would have already done it if he could", now it's "your so lucky blah blah blah"........Funny thing is if some of them stopped spending $$ so fast they would do ok too (they don't take into account that being self employed I save everything I can... too make sure I never do a 9-5 again!), but people only tend to look at the now not the whole process and where it started....

I respect everyone who gives a business idea a shot and especially the ones who fail but continue to get up and try again no matter what anyone says... they are true champions and in the end are likely to do well...

But working online is hard to explain, just start talking about SE algo's if you want poeple to go away...

This is so true. Working from home isnt a "real job" in many peoples eyes, yet when you try to explain that there is almost always enough work to make you wish there was 48 hours/day, they think youre just full of crap. And spending all this time selling PORN as well.

My father is retired has some money in property trusts funds, Tells everyone I dont really work for living. But bites me for 10k sort term loan untill one of his trust rolls over. So I lend him the money and ask him where did that come from from if I dont work.

funny thing is, they all say ah that´s so cool earning money for doing nothing blabla. but when you ask them why they don´t do/try it they have no real answer for it and just say: show me! why should i show anyone, i learned by myself and most others did so too..

Lol. Anything technical usually makes people's eyes glaze over. They feign interest for 2 minutes then start thinking of ways to change the conversation or get away from you. Occasionally there are ones who are genuinely interested, and they are the ones to spot and take the time to answer their questions.

Who gets off easier in that scenario? The person who works as long as they sleep or the person who works all day with little to no sleep?

I'm going to jump in on this rant...

For the past umpteen years, I've had to deal with this as we all probably have. I'm working, and I'll be kindly interrupted by anyone surrounding me to take out garbage, fix something in the house, ask questions about their personal computer issues, go to the store for something, etc. It seems the concept of me sitting at a desk with a computer doesn't count as "work". Noone will ever understand you're working unless you're A) in an office or B) at some manual labor job. Your family, friends, etc. don't care you're making money off of your box of PCBs and metal. It sucks, believe me. I turn the music up so I don't hear the knocks on my door, believe me we're all there brother. Not to mention I sit in front of this little box from 5AM until 8PM most days.

My sister in law still thinks I am playing, not working. She doesn't 'get' it....she thinks I can drop everything to go pick up her kid because she's at work and I'm home........so, my solution is I no longer try to explain.
