Sure now it's funny, but last night it wasn't You think it's over? HELL no!!!! We put our little guy to bed and 20 minutes latter I hear him getting sick again (it was all over his bed, him , floor and of course I got treated to some in my face as well...) So I go outside, Im my underwear (I took off my clothes covered in vomit) hose down his blankets...Ok so everyone is now cleaned up and it's bed time AGAIN!!! Nothing during the night, but we wake up this morning had a toast and BAM!!!!!! here we go again! Any parents here have any tips? I called my DR and he laughed in my face "you don't take a child to the DR just because he's vomitting" I feel so bad |

Sounds like the food poisoning I had last week! Change your DR!!! He should give your son some medicine. I got some medicine from my DR and got my stomach checked for bacteria. The best food for your son at this moment is salt water crackers and jello.

I'm going to agree with the Saltine Crackers suggestion. Small nibbles. Also, when I was a kid I know my mom used to give me a TINY little glass of something carbonated like Dr. Pepper and I could usually keep that down.
Good luck, hope the little guy feels better, and tell your Dr. to Go fuck himself. -P |

Yeah I just called another DR and got an app this afternoon, In Quebec you wait a minimum of 6 hours at the hospital and right now they're warning people of a virus (that all hospital staff & patients) seem to be catching...Of course I would take him if the Dr. thought he was in urgent need of IV or something...As a mom you can easily tell when you should panick (when it gets real bad) Thanks everyone for your comments! I could use the support right now..both Evil Chris and I are beat!

I would not run to a doctor.. children that vomit is pretty normal at that age.. could be teeth comming trough etc... if it stays for days than it is better to call a doctor..
i have some experience, i've grown 3 kids :-)

Funbrunette it's better to be safe then sorry. If you think somethings not right take him in to the E.R.
A few weeks back my daughter *4yrs. old* was having problems going to the bathroom. She said it hurt when she went poo. Anytime she went to the bathroom she screamed. We first were aware of it when she woke us up at 5 in the morning screaming one night. The next day it was still the same so we took her into cheo and waited for over 6 hours to see a doctor. She had a U.T.I *urinary tract infection* The doctor gave her medication and she is scheduled for a sonogram of the kidneys. And another test called a VCUG (voiding cysto-urethrogram) to see if she has urinary reflux or vesicoureteral reflux. This is a condition that causes urine to move backwards from the bladder up to the kidneys. She's doing 100% better now When it comes to your kids F.B don't worry about looking like an idiot in the E.R. Many parents wait and wait until something serious happens, sometimes when its too late. As I said above its better to be safe then sorry, for your own peace of mind if anything.

Its probably just a stomach virus...24 hour bug most likely. The last thing you want to be doing is feeding him. Get some gatorade, try to keep him hydrated and let it pass. If it doesnt stop after the 24 hours, then you can start thinking about taking him somewhere.

Feed him liquid in spoonfuls. Drinking out of a cup sometimes triggers the body to throw up because kids tend to drink too much too fast. Don't worry if he isn't eating keeping him hydrated is what matters most.

That doctor is a complete asshat. Change docs.
That said, the baby may well be just having a 24 hour bug. Don't make him eat if he's not hungry, but keep him sipping pedialyte or gatorade as much as you can. Hope everything's okay. <3 Tala

I would of listened to the doctor and do not think he is an idiot. Kids get sick, kids get the flu and so on. If it lasts more than 2 days then sure freak out.
Crackers, jello, sprite or 7-up, and ginger snaps. As for the anti-biotic if he only has a day left no big concern really if he can not keep it down. They ussually give you a few extra days worth just in case. Of course you should try to use them all, but it rarely hurts to miss the last days worth. Just try to ride it out, keeping lots of liquid in him and if it does not turn around in a day or two then go to a doctor.

But don't underestimate the value of just holding them. Remember when you were a kid and felt bad....even if your parents "couldn't do anything", their hugs helped some, at least mentally. |

I can't tell you how many kids I've nursed through hell and back .. mine, neighbors, grandkids etc etc
It sounds like a virus and you do NOT take medications for virus' ... unless there is fever involved, then you simply use a fever reducer. You need to keep a vomiting childs electrolites up. There is a liquid called Pedialite that is 1000 times more effective than gatorade for that. It was created exactly for that reason and is sold over the counter, usually in the babyfood or formula isles. This is absolutely the best thing you can give him!! If he doesn't want to drink, look for the Pedialite popsicles in the freezer section, if you don't have those regular popsicles will do. The object is to keep him hydrated. Food for a couple of days is NOT necessary but chicken broth, jello, jello water (this also helps with loose bowls), rice water, and flat ginger ale or sprite help too. Its the hardest thing in the world for a parent to see their babies sick but I'm certain he will be fine
