What do you spend on your Electric Bill?

And how many sq feet is your pad, and what county/area/state/climate are you in?

about $60.00 a month, I have 2 bedrooms, kitchen and a dining room, no idea how many sq meters though (I stay on my own)
In my previous house that was twice the size of this one, and I stayed with a woman and her son, we used to pay even less, go figure

I was looking at some wind power generators and solar panels at the county fair the other day. I didn't ask specifics though. Does anyone have any of these? He was saying how the electric co will buy the extra energy that you don't need for a little bit, or credit your bill the full amount.

Up to $2k a month when I had a place in AZ. In Dallas $1k is not rare in the summertime. $500 otherwise.

I'm all electric - heating, AC, cooking, hot water. I spend between $95 and $150 a month for 2300 sq ft. 2.5 stories (loft) with 4 inch D-log construction on the middle floor and a metal roof. I keep my AC on about 68 and the heat on about 72.

The electric company is required to buy the excess electricity that you produce and cannot use from what I understand. I've read a little about it, and wind turbines seem like the most energy efficient source. Solar panels really don't seem to do a lot.

Setting these up is quite expensive though. We're talking $30-40k, but in the long run they easily pay off with energy savings plus they add value to your property. In the State of California there are several grants available that will help pay up to half of the expense, your area may have a similar program.

One thing that is really stressed by the alternative energy source "people" is energy conservation. There is no point in creating your own energy if you haven't taken steps to conserve the energy you have already purchased. Contact your energy supplier and they'll do an audit of your house and give suggestions on what you can do to help conserve energy.

I pay about $100 monthly, 3 bedroom with about 1600sq ft I believe. No AC. The insulation on my place is terrible, which really drives me crazy. I'm buying heavy drapes this winter to see if that helps keep the heat in better.

$200-250/month for 3200 sq. ft house ... We are in Southern Arizona and it's a dry heat! ; )

When our house was built we got this energy saver thing put in ... not sure it was worth it.

For my rental property the electric bill is $65 a month, I'm on the monthly budget plan so it's about the same every month.

It's cold here
the house is big
I have tenants in two separate units

The natural gas bill on the other hand..... is much higher.

4500 sq feet. Gas heat (electric forced air) in winter and electric air conditioning in summer. There are 4 people living here. Part of the electricity bill is for a monster pump in my water feature out back.

Average electricity $390 per month. Average gas $70. Highest combined bill in the last year was $710 in January of this year.

260 a month ago, on the central coast of cali, inland a little...that's the highest I've dealt with...

with my old casa in AZ it was roughly about 200ish a month during the summer...

Oh, this is also keeping the place at around the low 70s which I think is almost perfect tempurature...80s-90s are tolerable for laying out and water fun, but if I'm wearing clothes I like it in the low 70s...
