I was up and getting ready to goto class. Then went to class and watched more of it and they let us all out early.

I'll never forget that morning.

My wife woke me up saying a plane had crashed into the WTC. I didn't believe her, but got out of bed after remembering a plane had hit the Empitre State Building in the 1940's. I got up, poured myself a cup of OJ, and was watching live when the second plane hit. I was stunned; I dropped my OJ on the floor.

Steve Lightspeed, Tanker, and I were all in contact with each other on ICQ quickly. Steve quickly decided no one would go into the office that day. We tried to work from home, but we were all glued to the TV. I met Steve for lunch later that day at a Wendy's; The streets were empty, and everyone was talking in hushed tones.

It's a day I'll never forget.

I was just waking up and getting online and saw the headlines - then turned on the TV

Odie 09-11-2005 10:28 AM

I was in bed when my sister called and told me to turn on the t.v. S he said a plane crashed into the wTC and then all of a sudden the second came in and hit the other tower. :(

Smoking a cigarette, turned on the tv, said: stupid n1ggers, then went back to smoking

dirtysouth 09-11-2005 10:36 AM

I was standing in line at the DMV renewing my tag. Noone knew anything. Then when I reached the office everyone was freaking out. At first I thought it was BS. Then I left work, went home and watched all day. I guess it's kinda like the Kennedy shooting was to my parents, you never forget exactly where you were and what you were doing. :(

Doc911 09-11-2005 10:45 AM

I was working at home writing some code. When I heard it on the tv a just sat there watching as the second plane hit.

KRL 09-11-2005 10:48 AM

I had just woken up in time for lunch, and turned the tv moments before the second plane hit the tower, and saw it live. That woked me up pretty good. Spent the rest of the day glued to the tv.

My mom called me as I was getting ready for work. She said "are you watching what's on TV? We're getting attacked!"

I sat there in quiet disbelief and watching until I had to leave.

Then I went and taught my classes. I was teaching at the community college. I still had about 75% of the class showing up that day, and some didn't even know.

On this day in 2001 I was right here at home. I got onto GFY, saw the thread "The world trade center is on fire!", started reading it..... then turned on CNN and the day was pretty much set in infamy from there.

The image of that one guy plummeting down the side of the WTC to his death is burned into my mind for all time.

I remember it vividly like so many of you...

For me it was a surreal time of my life, I was making more money than I could ever want or need. I was living at the end of the block from the pacific ocean on one of the most pristine parts of the California coast...I was going to be a Dad for the first time soon, and it was a perfect morning, clear sky, great ocean air smell, and I was sleeping in from a late night at work...

The woman came in the bedroom to get me up as my father had called from work to let me know what was going on, she had the TV on already and was just watching it stunned...the rest of the day was spent as everyone else, glued to the TV...for me it was being glued to the TV for a few weeks...was an even more surreal feeling being a spectator as history was happening instead of being in the military as I had been for the past 12 years (I had only recently gotten out of the military in 99 so the 'time to pack and do shit' mentality had not totally disappeared)...

Also was strange remembering all the disaster prep (NBC) training & emergency management courses I had gone through in the military and in particular this one training CD that had a picture of the WTC in black and red with a scope target stenciled over it :/ Gives me chills to think about even now...

I was in a video editing class. On morning break I ran to grab some smokes from the gas station nearby and saw what was unfolding on the clerk's little black & white tv. I was pretty stressed cuz the day before I saw my girlfriend away at the airport and she was leaving from NYC to Helsinki that morning. There was a real concern that she was on one of those planes. By 6pm that night she called and I found out she had never boarded. Damn I thought I had lost her to that.

CuriousToyBoy 09-11-2005 04:18 PM

I can still remember watching TV for 2 days straight with no sleep from that point onwards.....

;-(

tony286 09-11-2005 04:21 PM

crockett 09-11-2005 04:22 PM

I was at my dad's place typing on my laptop when he called me to see the news on TV. The images were heartbreaking.

ATL_Ryan 09-12-2005 12:23 AM

Was only a few weeks afer I started working for CJ. I just had my 4 year aniversary with the company. We all sat around the office watching TV in AWE. Then we started posting videos of the attack. CNN was down MSNBC was down and we were one of the few sites that had footage right away after the attack of the planes hitting the buildings. We got emails and calls from news organizations around the world because we had footage most didn't. The pics and vids came in minutes after the attack. It was quite crazy. I really felt like the world was coming to an end.
