Software for time management?????????

Do you use software to keep track of your tasks?? Are there any tools that are simple and effective??

I`ve tried some software I found using a google search (sorry can`t remember names)
and I really found that the best way is to grab a pen and paper the night before and write what you need to do the next day. Then while showering next morning just go over all of it in my mind.
It looks and feels nice when you finally have crossed out every task on your to-do list for that day...
