![]() Dedicated Server Plan proposal I got from a vendor. I'm building a heavy traffic email promo platform for a client.
Let me know if you know of other providers that can beat this, I'll need service plan description along with rates ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ For $500 per month (1 yr perpaid), we'll provide 2 Sun Solaris Machines, one for email and one as a web server which is capable of running ASP (using Chilisoft). We will also provide upto 80 GB of storage space on our Network Appliance filer. We know you need a sql database, so we'll create a sql data base on our sql server (Its a Dell 2500 with redundant power supplies and full raid). As far as bandwidth goes, we won't throttle, though we will give you a monthly transfer allowance of 150 GB. Overage would be $2.50/gb. If it starts going over consistently or we find that the servers are getting over loaded, we'll negotiate rates at that time. If you have other ideas, let me know, and I'll see what we can do

"scale up" provision. She's going for the lower package rate.

I wouldn't go for the deal.
1. Pre-paying for a year is ridiculous. Good way to get screwed if there are problems with the server. Suppose after 4 months, you realize that this server really sucks (downtime, too slow, whatever) you are tied down to it because you already paid for a full year upfront. 2. $500 a month for 150 gigs transfer is about 3 dollars a gig, which is too high. Overages at $2.50 a gig is also a bit high. You are paying about $500 for .5 Mb/s line. For that price you could get a 2 Mb/s line which would give you 600 gigs transfer a month. There are better deals out there, with hosts that don't require upfront payments and have less expensive bandwidth. |
