make the rules of the contest VERY clear when starting it. and if you mess up because you didn't and there's a misunderstanding...make right what you messed up by being generous. it'll give you credibility.

I've thought what you were doing was fine, but to rip on SEOBook is pretty lame. Not to knock your services, but those guys would run cirlces around some of your stuff, and make a lot of money from their own sites. If they did take on clients, $1000 wouldn't cover 2 hours of their time I'm guessing.

I'll say that teaching someone SEO can make them much more than what you are asking from them, and in some cases it can be seen as a good deal. But it's just Yahoo, which is a fucking joke to rank sites on. Here's my Yahoo guide in a few easy steps:

1) Build page with 300-500 words with your keywords mixed in.

2) Place your keyword in the title tag, meta description and meta keywords

3) Build links like a mother fucker to the site with the anchor text of what you want to rank for.

Yahoo! is all about links and anchor text, and they hardly devalue recips.

You're right, adult is different in some ways (in fact I find it much easier). But all you have to do is look at your site and you can tell your tactic.

As I said earlier, just trade links with other sites and have them link to you under the term you wish to rank for. If you want to rank for Pornos, have them make the link say Pornos. Keep getting these trades till you rank. It's not rocket science on Yahoo!.

There is more to it than that ;)
