When my folks immigrated from the Philippines to the USA, both of them worked minimum wage jobs but they were able to save and manage their money to get a nice house, decent clothes and transportation. It may not be as bling bling as a new Lexus and Armani threads but they knew how to manage their money. It stems from the fact that my mom came from a family of 8 kids that pretty much had to raise themselves so every penny was saved.
